ALL-STAR WEEKEND

That's funny!

Actually, Chadski mentioned, in an off-handed way, that they had "made some changes" a couple years back but that there were some "newer" athletes on the squad who were just hitting their stride.
He was watching the 24 crew for new recruits though.:D

Watching practice for the All-Star Showdown qualifying race (why is Scott Speed there??!) and I had to laugh. John Roberts was interviewing Jamie Mac. Jamie said that he had watched broadcasts of several past All-Star Races to get a feel for strategy. John asked him what he thought of the announcers on the telecasts. Jamie responded, "They were lovely." and then he kinda smirked.

That comment spoke volumes to me!

Ambrose, first all-star appearance, says he spent years making friends in garage and "probably going to lose them all in one night."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran the most laps (40) in the Sprint Showdown practice and also posted the fastest speed (188.114 mph).

Sprint Showdown practice final — 88, 22, 83, 47, 56, 31, 13, 43, 93. 42, 20, 1, 33, 38, 30, 87, 49, 19, 19, 26 95 36

We have watched the NA$$CAR season progress thru an entertaining Darlington Southern 500.

There are only THREE more races on the FOX schedule (YAY!) including the All-Star Race, which will be on SPEED with the FOX broadcast crew. I have grown so weary of the Waltrip Bros. Comedy Hour that I refrain from watching any of the pre-race show on FOX. It is painful beyond toleration. This weekend will be, to quote Larry Mac, "EKSPESHULLY" painful since there will be a signifigant amount of down-time between segments which will provide the opportunity for an even greater amount of toture than usual. I am going to need copious amounts of "distractions" if you know what I mean...

I always enjoy this event! It's a throwback to the days when racing for the checkered flag was the most important thing! I hope that the folks in Charlotte paint the walls GOLD cause that really looks cool under the lights!

GO PEE WEE !!

Well said.

While I agree, I'd imagine that the response would be that it would take to long to complete qualifying if we did that each week.

Why can't there be more than ONE car on the track at the same time? Put 4 or 5 or 6 cars out there, tell them to run 7 or 8 laps and that they must make a 4-tire stop during that period. The fastest TEAM gets the pole.

Its all over folks

I went there in 04 for the 600, visited a bunch of shops including the RCR museum and DEI (pic on my avatar).
Spent one afternoon at a bar on lake Norman and talking to the bartender I asked how much would a house like that go for? It was on the lake and he said 3 or 4. I was thinking million and he said no 3 or 4 hundred thousand. I figured out where I will retire that day.

Yep, I am definitely planning a move to Concord, maybe in about two years when I finish school. I have to talk my wife into it though

Bill Elliott is currently one of the top 5 votes for tonight's all star showdown despite not even being entered.

I wish they still did the inversion and elimination for this race. I loved when it got to 10 cars 1 million dollars at the finish line.

Funny. I enjoyed it very much - except for the bogus stop-and-go pit stop thingie!

Every team should have been required to pit for 4 tires, because the race was supposed to be all about the TEAMS, right?

But I thought it was terrific racing. It was especially good, as TRL said, in the first 4 segments!

That was an awful All Star race.

I must have been watching something else...

This race needs to be one segment 60 laps, so the teams need to make a pit stop, don't count the laps under caution, and give an extra $250k for leading the most laps. All these segments get tiresome very quickly, I'd rather see a high paying Saturday night "feature" race than this gimmicky WWE crap they do every year.

Just give them a 100 lap one million to win race and forget the segments and mandatory pit stop crap. What the heck was the point of that last night?
