Alligator snatches toddler at Disney World

For anyone sitting online and complaining about the parents, please take a moment to read this. And if anyone says they've never had a toddler do something unexpected (like dart off in a split second), you're either lying, you've forgotten, or you are extremely, extremely fortunate. My kid tumbled down a flight of stairs as a toddler, and it happened within seconds, fortunately not sustaining serious injury (a long time ago....). By some people's view, that makes me a negligent parent.

Yep, I'm with her. We really are a blame and shame society these days. This was just a really tragic thing that happened, at Disney of all places.

I mean, yes, I hope everyone that hears about it will learn from it, but we don't have to slam the parents nonstop. No one is perfect, and grilling them with questions about why they weren't paying attention or watching their child isn't going to change anything or help in any way. Their child is gone. Chances are, they're probably driving themselves crazy asking those questions of themselves and thinking about everything they could have done differently.

Give 'em a break. Sheesh.
