Another Classic Tony Stewart Interview

So called "reporters" ask some of the dumbest question ever. She didn't even realize she'd been p'owned.

I can't help but think the brain got a chuckle out of this,,but of course Tony will be fined. The 11th Commandment"Thou shall not speak evil of na$car"

I'm not sure Tony cares about being fined, and he may be the only one. He probably wrote the check out before doing that interview :XXROFL:

Can anybody tell me what he said? I didn't see the interview but it sounds like my kind of story.

I wish people would focus a little more of what he was trying to say:

  1. The Drivers had to hold back for most of the race because of the tiny radiators.
  2. Racing at Dega resembles a Demolition Derby.

Can anybody tell me what he said? I didn't see the interview but it sounds like my kind of story.

Tony, in dripping with sarcasm fashion, said the racing was awesome because of the engines overheating and all the crashing but said he feels bad that they didn't wreck more cars and that he didn't spend at least $150,000 in torn up cars. He then offered his suggestions for fixing Talladega by turning it in to a figure-8 track.

I'm reading that video of Smoke's "Rosetta Stone: Sarcasm" demonstration will air on "NASCAR Now" at 2 p.m. EST.

I haven't seen this verified anywhere.

Its like seriously funny stuff...I had tears rolling down my face.

The puzzled look on red shirt back there is classic. He finally gets it and starts grinning.

And if he is fined, I would love to see him pull a Rusty Wallace and pay the fine in pennies!

That's been done. I'd like to think that Stewart could come up with something more original.

However, Stewart causing controversy 2 weeks in a row when people are saying Nascar has been boring so far this year...Classic Tony Stewart.

Stewart won't be penalized for Talladega post race comments: Sarcasm, when used correctly, can be a clever tool for making a point. It also can be harmful when overused. #14-Tony Stewart's news conference following Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway was full of both. It bordered from brilliant to a violation of Section 12-4-A of the NASCAR rulebook, which covers everything "detrimental to the sport." In one of the most bizarre postrace transcripts you'll ever read, the three-time Cup champion made a mockery of one of the sport's biggest races. He did it in such a sarcastic way that you may want to read twice just to catch the surgeon-like precision in which he ripped the race and governing body apart. The note accompanying the transcript says the interview was "tongue-and-cheek." According to several reporters there, Stewart never let on that he was joking and some left confused by what they heard. But Stewart's point was well made: NASCAR needs to change a few things before the sport returns to the 2.66-mile track for the Chase. To Stewart's point, as great as #2-Brad Keselowski's move to escape #18-Kyle Busch on the final lap of the green-white-checkered finish was for the win, several issues must be addressed. The overheating that ended the day early for #48-Jimmie Johnson and Stewart teammate #39-Ryan Newman with blown engines has to be fixed even if it means the return of tandem racing. So does the issues that caused cars to run out of fuel early. Catastrophe can't be avoided when that happens while running three-wide in packs at 200 mph.(ESPN)
According to Jenna Fryer of the Associate Press, no penalty will be given to Stewart. NASCAR said, "In NASCAR's opinion, these comments were made by a driver who clearly was not pleased with how his day finished. They were not disparaging given the context in which he delivered them nor were they a direct shot at the sport."
See video of a portion of Stewart's interview as broacasted on ESPN's NASCAR now, here, see the full transcript here.(5-8-2012)

No need to fine Stewart. I think he's expressing the toughts of the garage in general and I don't think it's directed so much @ NASCAR. IMO Stewart made more of a mockery of the media/fans than he did make a mockery of one of the sport's biggest races.

Fans/media cried over the lack of contact @ Bristol.

Fans/media cried over the lack of cautions after Texas.

Fans/media cried over debris cautions after that.

All of this when put together seems to point to fans wanting more wrecks and cautions because of wrecks. Tony has been asked over and over in the media center about all of this stuff and more over the past month or so and I think his frustration with it just happened to surface over the past couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more.....

If Nascar needs anything , it needs more colorful characters like Tony .We just don't have enough of them . Pre 'boys have at it' ..Nascar might have penalized him but I think that they have realized the error of their ways .

Thanks to those who posted what he said. I saw it on SportsCenter last night. That was some really funny stuff and almost exactly what I've been saying about plate "racing" for years. I suggested replacing them with figure eights to get the same effect as these "races" achieve years ago. People who enjoy 'Dega and Daytona seem to be simply there to see carnage.

Stewart has made the same type replies after a race before when he finishes bad, nothing new there but I bet you he will be saying a different tune in a day or so as he also always does....why...we all know why...NASCAR does not allow free speech by the teams or the drivers without the threat of being punished. The tactics used by NASCAR in shutting up any dis-agreement with their rules reminds me of Germany in the early forties for some reason. What does NASCAR fear? The truth , maybe?

You know what else? Rousch and the Ford company are trying to buy a championship. They put out like $20 million to steal Brad from Dodge and France took money to allow that illegal FRied9 engine.

Well everyone is quick to throw Tony under the bus on this one, his he really wrong? Nascar was quick to give the fans what they wanted which is more pack racing. Why? Because they will wreck more. Also in doing so Nascar made it harder for the drivers to race. Pack racing and Nascar are nothing but a big joke. How can anyone say with a straight face that this pack racing is better than the two car tandem?

I personally think he should find a few strip clubs in the area and exchange their singles for $100s. Then pay the fine with all the singles. LOL

THE only interview that's funnier is this classic from 2004:

Tony should challenge Jenna Fryer to a duel.
