#NASCAR ... Here's the statement from Dale Earnhardt Jr., founder and owner of JR Motorsports, on crew chief Tony Eury Jr.'s release:

“Unfortunately Tony Jr. is no longer with the company. I had hoped he would be here for a long time, but as we’ve discussed the direction of JR Motorsports moving forward, it was clear our differences in ideas were too vast to overcome. I love him like a brother, and you’ll never hear me say a bad thing about him. I know he’ll have much success in anything he does going forward. As for our No. 7 team, no decision has been made on who will crew chief that team this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. We will discuss our options and make a decision very soon.”

Thank goodness things are going stellar for Danica on the cup side, as this shr tweet confirms:

Stewart-Haas Racing@StewartHaasRcng
.@DanicaPatrick finished 25th to notch her best career NSCS finish. It came in her 6th Sprint Cup start & her 1st at Chicagoland. #NASCAR

I wonder if Eury Jr is still Co-Owner in JR Motorsports.

I never heard that. I believe it's Jr and Kelly.

you're right.

The painful evolution of JR Motorsports continued Monday when the Nationwide Series team parted ways with Tony Eury Jr., who in addition to being crew chief on Danica Patrick's No. 7 car was also a part-owner in the organization.

That never gets old.:D I thought the same thing though.

It's Jr, Rick H, Kelly and Eury Jr as owners.

This is interesting. Eury Sr said they needed a cup driver to compete with the other teams. Then they hire Ryan Pemberton, who most recently oversaw Dave Blaney's car at Tommy Baldwin Racing. Could JRM go after Ryan Blaney? Roger better sign that kid to a NW deal real fast.

How long has Rick been in that mix????

Yes --- if I remember correctly, Rick merged his N'wide operation with JRM.

Rick really didn't have much of a N'wide after his son passed, did he? I don't recall.
FTR, Danica finished 10 positions in front of Four time:) without any damage IIRC

In fact, ahead of 18 cup regular drivers.

I'm going to get one of those stringy things librarians use to hang their glasses around their neck.. Next time I find my memory I'm going to lash it down!

Kyle Busch ran for Ricks NW program through 2007. When Kyle left for Gibbs and Jr came over, it made sense to merge the 2 programs.

It also gave Rick a place to stick Eury Jr when he was done with him. ;)

Danica will do better with a different CC. I've lost track of how many times she's told him to make changes and he doesn't listen to her.

If that were true , they had better unmake that the problem . If Danica leaves for another team , all of the money goes too. Thankfully , I think you are dead wrong .

I think Danica is done with NW after this year. She goes to SHR next year.

Danica is good for racing and brings in a lot of outside money.
1. The Godaddy money pot
2. = Danica getting racing deal with good teams (Rahal, Andretti, JuniorsMS, and SHR).
3. Chassis builders, Sheet Metal Suppliers, body shop workers get business or job security

Another example Paul Menard who also brings in more talent than money except for point 3, he usually doesn't tear up as much sheet metal (of course I am a Menards store hater).

^I actually meant to say more money than talent (the wife was trying to talk to me and messing up my posting)

"As a company, we need to get better," Earnhardt told USA TODAY Sports in May. "We're turning over every stone, making changes. There's a company up the road at Hendrick Motorsports that has all the resources in the world. They want to help us. They want to give us all the knowledge that we can stomach. It's our job to access that better and use those resources better.

"I don't think we have been. We can do more of that. It's just hard to go ask. There's a lot of pride and things in the way."

I remember hearing that Eury Sr dislikes Rick Hendrick so much, he refused to go work for him when Jr left DEI.

Everyone can go off on their weekly Danica diatribes but this I think is more a reflection of Dale Jr.'s dedication to Jr. Motorsports than it is the lack of success by Danica or Cole Whitt, (yeah there's someone else that races under that banner too). Tony Eury Sr. was left go a short time ago for not utilizing all of the tools that he had at his disposal. He was competition director. If he wasn't taking advantage of the technology available then he wasn't doing his job. It was a tough decision on the part of the Earnhardt's, Hendrick, and Eury Jr. as co-owners to release Eury Sr. I'd imagine. Three of those four people being relatives. It probably goes without saying that Eury Jr. would have been the dissenting vote. If that were the case, how could he continue on there?

TRL's exactly correct. They were 'old school'. It was time for a change. It was a good move IMO. They have to look to the future of the company.

Danica's gone and not a factor after this season. If she ends up running a limited schedule of some sort for JR. Motorsports, I can't see that as being anything other than a good thing. She's a magnet for publicity and outside of this board one of the most popular figures in the sport today. If any of you were lucky enough to be a car owner and didn't take advantage of what she has to offer your organization, you'd be a fool. Plain and simple.

This has nothing to do with Danica. It has everything to do with the future of Jr. Motorsports.

Sorry dude, I was just trying to create a little thread traffic. :)

But Danica is left to try and get things going with a new CC, and that won't be easy. If we see a big improvement from her, it will validate Jr's decision.

I think problem at Jr. Motorsports are deeper than the crew chief. They were from the ground up. You aren't going to see any change overnight with her and I don't think it'd be fair to her to expect that to happen over the now, short season.

Maybe not a BIG improvement, but if she starts getting the changes she asks for and shows some improvement, it would validate what Kelly Bires and Dale Jr have been saying for 2 years. Those 2 need to start listening to the driver and adjusting on the car. Even when Brad was there, he was often told 'just drive the car'.

But, how many nice cars did she destroy this year? It's gotta get old putting so much hard work into a good ride and watching a rookie **** it up.

It's going to be hard to find a crew chief that can fix lack of talent. ;)
Yeah ,she reminds me a lot of other rookies that wrecked a lot of race cars like Jeff Gordon and most of the other champions . All of the wrecks that I have seen her in have been caused by others , but I guess that's not the point here.

She really reminds you of a rookie Jeff Gordon huh? I must have missed the mustache that she grew recently cause that's about the only thing she would ever have in common with him in terms of talent.
