Is there anyone on this board that is generally happy with watching this sport each and every week? Some of the posts make me wonder why some continue to watch or even frequent this board. The racing sucks. The coverage sucks. The announcers suck. Commercials suck. The Chase sucks.....

I've never seen so many "fans" of a sport complain about anything like they do here, but yet they continue to watch....and complain.

Wish it would go back to just conspiracy theorists......"Earnhardt got the bigger plate", "Gordon has special tires", "Johnson has a top-secret, aerodynamic paint"....

I've enjoyed every race I've watched so far this year.

I deal with the commercials by not paying attention to them and basically tune out the announcers when needed :)

I'm not happy with the performance of the #20 team but have learned to take it in stride.

The consistant whining, bitching and moaning in the race threads is slowly becoming unbearable, however. Such is life.

I'm so gruntled you wouldn't believe. I'm excited about all of it. I'm really enjoying myself.

I have to limit the amount of time I read this board though sometimes due to all the negativity. It'll bring you down.

We got a few people who think it's cool to be hot headed assholes who complain about EVERYTHING (and do nothing about anything)

And others who think it's cool to be Internet bad asses who nitpick and attempt to ridicule some people's every post.
And still yet a few others who will argue and say the exact opposite of everyone else for.... well, I have no idea why. Just to argue? Because it's cool to be an ass?

That stuff gets old and it'll bring you down. I love how much info and camaraderie I ofttimes get here though, so I stick around.

Anyway, back on topic.
I'm enjoying every race this year. Trucks, nationwide and cup. I do occasionally get flabbergasted at the amount of commercials on Tnt but, that's the way it goes.

Some races arent as spectacular as others but thats just how racing is. Any given sunday. Gotta love it. That goes for any sport. Commercials dont bother me a bit, Ill just flip on MRN & wait. The Chase is wack but it does make it more dramatic. What can beat Stewart v Edwards? Ill defend this sport to the grave.

Just hit the ignore but on maybe 4 members & bam like magic - all negativity gone.

I rate every race a 10, and love all of this. At a time when my teams have struggled, it would be easy to be pissy about the directions NASCAR is taking. Instead, I am fascinated by those teams that make it work, and tune in with the hope that this will be the week when everything is turned around. I want to learn, and every week is an opportunity. When I go to Fontana, I spend three days with a huge smile on my face just taking it all in--honestly, it's like Christmas for me.

Wanna compare ignore lists? LOL :D

I'm generally happy with the product. Most of the pundits/announcers are blithering idiots and I treat them as such. If you're tuning in for great analysis and in depth coverage then you're watching the wrong sport. That's more of the NFL's thing.

I find it particularly amusing that people complain about the commercials, like what is the sport other than a giant commercial? Products/services are advertised non stop DURING the race, you'd expect a lot of commercial breaks to go along with it. Just saying though...

Probably should go back and look at the rate the race posts for all the races so far for a true idea of who is doing the most complaining. Might want to look at the last rate the race title posting? Don't have a clue where to draw the line, some are almost 100% negative, sick in the head. some complain how boring the race is in the race thread and the race still has 100 laps to go? most of us have our pet peeves. Mine isn't about the racing or the fluff stuff, but the increasing lack of racing due to greedy people who see an opportunity to IMO take advantage of racing fans. Unlike stick n ball, racing suffers from commercials. They don't stop the racing when it is between innings, or a first down, or half time. Networks not only fill the cautions, however many racing randomly has, but every year in Nascar anyway, the commercials have increased and the racing coverage has grown smaller. Most here just watch Nascar if they even watch racing, but other racing series have less then half the commercials that Nascar has in comparison and they don't ruin the racing, there is enough content there. I doubt it will get better as long as Nascar is drawing multiple top 5 ratings and the Frances will not make deals with networks to limit commercial time during races. But you never know, people can change.

There is a lot about this sport that sucks. For me it is anything that Brian France is involved with. Sure a lot of the networks provide less than desirable coverage. But...IMO, its still the best sport on TV. So, I guess I'm gruntled. Opinionated, but gruntled.
If I could watch each race live, at the track, I'd be less opinionated and even more gruntled.
:D

I LOVE my racing. Yes, I will occasionally gripe about the broadcast, but the racing is still on TV.
I may gripe about what has been changed about my sport, but in the end, it is still drivers and cars going at it.
I'm not a fan of Brian France and his ideas because I remember how his dad ran the sport -- and his grandad.
But that's water under the bridge. I don't see it going back.

I'm still a fan. I still watch every race. I still get thrills seeing the cars.

This is a discussion board and people are going to discuss things they aren't happy with. The "happy time brigade no complaining about anything ever" is just as annoying as the complainers.
I agree about the happy time brigade" but my god, the bitching is far worse. I mean some people just need to give it a rest. It's not all flowers and sunshine for sure but damn, it ain't American Idol either!

We all complain some, true. I guess it's just the few people who do nothing else EVER that just wears a body down and makes us rail against the negative. Ah well. I can't think of much I really hate right off, except excessive commercials!

About the only thing I ever bitch about are the bitchers.

I love the racing...

The gruntled fans all probably have voodoo dolls of Brian France hanging all over their house.

Nah. We just have autographed pictures and framed articles of clothing from Master....er Mr. France....

You know what annoys me? People that are all "pink clouds" all the time and pretend nothing is wrong. Then, when people, who are watching their first love being burned to the ground by Brain France and co. have solid gripes, they get ridiculed and told to "change the channel". Well it ain't that easy.. A lot of us are basically addicted and will be here to either a)watch the empire crumble or b) watch them start to pay attention to the "constant" complainers, and we will get our racing back.

Buuut I guess I'll keep my negative opinions to myself, and from here on out I will post nothing but kitten pictures and NASCAR knob strokin' propaganda. It's gonna look like NASCAR.com in this b.

All that said, I love this ****. And I am "generally happy". A day watching cars go in circles is better than a day doing most anything else, any day. Not a whole lot can change that I don't think.... Unless it just ceases to exist at some point.....

I'm a happy camper (and I had to look up gruntled). The races vary from week to week but that is what it is. If it was a last lap thriller every week people would only tune it for the last lap. Like a number of you, I can filter out stuff (I have a Firesign Theater filter in my head that can make the most serious commercial amusing). Some people are whiners - that's what they do and I can filter that noise out too.

I've complained more than a time or two on here, but it's mainly out of concern for the sport. I genuinely want to see NASCAR succeed and still love the sport, but I can't just ignore the negatives. I think a lot of people are of the school of thought that just because THEY have no problem with the sport, that there is no problem. Kind of hard to ignore the sagging attendance and a TV audience that has been cut in half over the last decade. And I think a lot of that has to do with some of the boneheaded ideas that have come out of the Brian France regime.

So I guess I'm still gruntled, just concerned.

The post was disgruntled about the racing. nope, the racing is fine, but in the last two years the screen to SEE the racing has been filled with a huge ticker at the top, and last year besides the huge ticker up top that flashed by the way, they inserted a side bar, that I hope never returns. I hope it was fan complaining that got rid of the stupid thing. This year instead of the side bar, the networks have increased the commercial time. If you are happy with that and can ignore it, maybe the networks will give you more commercials so you can ignore the whole race. I am sure they will be glad to help. I think the whole Nascar/broadcast racing model is badly broken and is focused on exploiting the money angle and we are slowly but steadily loosing the racing.

I agree with you. I think this thread came about just because there are a few here who seem to genuinely not like nascar or if they do, they never show it. When a lot of folks here complain, you included, I generally agree with what's being said. I just hate that some people take it past the point of complaining out of concern into bitching because "I like to hear myself talk and I'm cool because I bitch more and louder than everyone else. "
As far as you personally, I think you're a great poster and I doubt if you've ever brought the mood down to the ground and rubbed it in a pile of **** as some seem intent upon.

What would happen to NASCAR if all the disgruntled fans flipped the channel as so many suggest? The people who pretend nothing is wrong are in for a rude awakening. Ratings are down double digits across the board. Attendance is down.

People watch sports to be entertained. Most NASCAR races don't do that. When millions of people turn on a soccer game and are more entertained by that boring ass **** than NASCAR races, there's a serious serious problem.

I love the racing! The only thing I could possibly complain about are TNT's announcers, but that's a pretty small gripe.

Im a firm believer in not complaining about things that you cannot control. I dont give a damn about the broadcast. I guess for me I look at the race season similar to the
Baseball season. It is a very long season. I dont have the time or the energy to complain about race 6 of the season. There are going to be duds when you have 36 races. It would be like raging over my Baseball team losing the 40th game of the season. It just makes no sense to me.

I cant control the amount of commercials that are televised, but I can DVR the race and fast forward through the commercials. Some of you should try it. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience. I cannot control who is in the booth, but I do know that those who are in the booth have forgotten more about the sport then I can ever know. I cannot control how competitve the race actually is. All of those things that make people complain are not enough for me to not watch. Its still an enjoyable thing for me. Why make it so intolerable?
