I am.

I follow of many forms of motorsports, and of all the four-wheeled types, Nascar is my clear #1 favorite because of its intense man-against-man on-track racing, as well as its superb depth of field and competitive balance. Also, the driving degree of difficulty is excellent in 2016, and looks to be even better next year.

Love/hate relationship since Brian France took over, but there's never been anything like Nascar racing for me since I was a kid. MMA did come close for a while.

No, not anymore. For the reasons talked about before. I still like my NASCAR games. (Both new and old)

Yes but my interest does waiver here and there. That wasn't always the case. Even so, been attending Cup races for 28 straight years and that likely isn't going to change. Even if the 3 pm start times suck. At least I can wake up at noon now and still go to a race...lol. Hell, I can work a 1/2 day and still go to a race....

I used to be, but now I spend more time here than I do watching the races. Fans don't just stop being fans all at once, they slowly slip away as they do other things.

Yes, but I'm nowhere near the fan I once was.
Too many silly changes. I don't watch The Chase. My race season is 26 races.
I hate the Chase as much as the next fan but I can't understand walking away from the sport because of it. Those 10 Chase races are still Cup races. Someone's gotta win those races and I'm right there rooting for my driver of choice.

My only problem with them is the NFL schedule. The Steelers will always take priority over the race for me. I know my DVR is doing what it was designed for and I don't have to be concerned about seeing NASCAR updates while watching the game. Sometimes though we'll either set up a second television or simply watch split screen. Most times opting for the second tv.

NASCAR is the only sport I follow . I couldn't name ten players in any other sport . Don't go to races anymore and miss a few on tv but get updates here.

These days I am more of a casual fan as I watch most of the races and have seen some very good ones more toward the beginning of the season though. I used to be a rabid fan that attended several races each year and I would even arrange my travel schedule in order not to miss any of the action. If I had to pinpoint the beginning of the eventual end for me it occurred when pit road speeds were implemented as that rule was the father of many of the other changes that began the ruination of the Nascar I once knew.

That is pretty much the same for me as seeing Nascar doesn't take the crowning of a champion as a serious matter why should I? I like Martinsville so I will make an attempt to see that chase race and if football permits I will see bits and pieces of other races. I never watch the race at Homestead as turning my back on it is my own personal protest of so much of what I dislike about today's Nascar.

Not as big a fan of Nascar as the Titans I hope......:)

Been a fan since 1958 but as the years grow long the interest draws short. Rule changes have little to do with it for me as the interest is in drivers making split second choices and crew chiefs using strategy that could affect the entire outcome of the event. That is what keeps the interest left in the sport. I don't follow any other sport at all.

Wouldn't be here if I weren't.
This.
I don't get why people who aren't a fan of something would spend time on a web site related to that item. Certainly nothing wrong with doing so, I just don't understand it.
YES. If the question was Are You Currently a Fan of Hockey? the answer would not only be NO but also "what the hell am I doing on a hockey board"?

The NFL, NCAAF and the NHL take priority for me over Nascar and I DVR every Nascar event as, for me, I could never watch a race live as the broadcasts are full of junk. Between all the commercials, split screens, dubious camera angles, Dale Jr updates, talking heads bloviating, unnecessarily long caution periods, competition cautions, legitimate cautions, bogus cautions, red flags and periods of races where everyone is riding.....well there isn't a ton of meat on the bone for me. I have done much better in not using the FF button this year but most races I can watch in an hour or so.

" If NASCAR doesn't take the crowning of a champion as a serious matter why should I?" Once and a while you hit one Skoal , good job.

I have the odd moment of clarity and I normally don't get into a fury for any reason but when I do I make sure I have an extra ballast resistor with me.

You know where u are right? lol

Absolutely.
Nascar... a worldwide juggernaut!

I prefer sprint car racing more on dirt but I am a big NASCAR fan
I'm a big fan of sprint car racing. Wish WoO had a TV deal. I'm a closet supporter of the Pennsylvania Posse.

I don't get why people who aren't a fan of something would spend time on a web site related to that item. Certainly nothing wrong with doing so, I just don't understand it.
I don't get it either, and yet we see it here to a surprising degree. Maybe it's just an old habit. I certainly understand that people's interests change over time. There are sports I used to like a lot but my interest waned over time.

I don't care for basketball. Buy why would I go on a basketball forum and complain about what I don't like? Or a forum devoted to Dancing With The Stars, because I don't like that either?

When you look at another big time sport. It is what it is, right? Take it or leave it . You don't sit around thinking of ways it should be changed . It is what it is. The more steadfast management is , the more the sport is respected. The more they change stuff the less respected it is . I'm glad they changed from canvas helmets in football , but not much else needed changing.

I have been a fan since 1970 or 1971, plan on being one until I die.
But I despise the gimmicks that Brian France has imposed on the sport. I doubt that he is even a fan of racing himself, if he was he wouldn't stand for the crap he inflicts upon the product.

I really wish there was a way for him to completely fail without taking down Nascar with him.

For me, The Chase cheapens the sport and takes the credibility out of the championship. I really don't care who gets crowned.
I determine who the champion is after 26 races, then I watch football

I keep watching but I definitely get your frustration, it has taken some of the credibility away.
I wouldn't mind if Nascar had the chase as long it didnt determine the overall championship. They could do all of eliminations etc, and hand over a big check etc.

When you say that other rules were fathered by pit speed limits, what other rules were sired by that? I'm looking to understand the interconnections you see.

I've been a fan since the mid 60's, but I have to admit that the past few years I haven't been near as big a fan of it. When they changed from the original championship to the chase type format it made a big dent in my enthusiasm. A championship isn't a dash over the last 10 or 12 races to determine the champion. When JJ won all the championships it showed me that the format was a joke. Not saying he and the 48 team aren't one of the all time best, but something is wrong when you can that many when nobody else was able to win near that many in such a short amount of time. The changes to the cars and the death of some really great drivers like Davey and Dale took away some of the fun. Also the drivers are different to me. They whine about everything like gee nobody can touch me or you have to make room for me because, well it me. I'll still watch but not like I used to plus I don't have the DVR.

What is even funnier is people complaining about the people who complain lol. As I said to either you or someone else recently be very thankful for the people who are less than enthused with Nascar as if it wasn't for them this place would be a ghost town and the series would have even less people interested than it already does. No France Kool Aid swilled here!!!

OK.......what member of your household wrote that gem......:D

Yes I am a big fan of nascar. I dislike the chase altogether, but, that is the way it is.

As long as 40 American Hot Rods get together each week and get after it, I will watch. Almost all my TV watching is done via DVR and I do this because I like to control my viewing. The Dega races are the only races I try to watch live on TV. My wife and I enjoy watching the races early the next morning while we are having our coffee.

I am fortunate to be able to go to a couple of live races each year, which is what keeps me as a fan, nothing like it anywhere. I try and stay neutral on issues that I have no control over in Racing, not always, but, most of the time.

I live 157 miles from Daytona Int. Speedway and have been there a lot of times, most recently the 2016 July 400, what they have done there is fantastic.

I live 164 miles from Homestead Motor Speedway, I will never go back, the place sucks, awful place to view a race live, unless you sit in turn one and they are not fan friendly. They have the most dumbass traffic control in the known universe.(don't get me started)

Atlanta, Charlotte and Bristol are my favorite tracks (not necessarily in that order), if you go to a race at these tracks you would see why that is.
Martinsville is on my Bucket list.

Yep, I like Nascar racing, all division's. :D

When you say that other rules were fathered by pit speed limits, what other rules were sired by that? I'm looking to understand the interconnections you see.

Pit road speeds led to not racing back to the stripe which led to free passes and the infamous reach arounds that put beaucoup cars back on the lead lap thanks to the double wreck restarts. I am sorry Mike Rich was killed on pit road but that accident was the beginning of the end for me and the death of Dale didn't help matters either.
