Atlanta RACE thread

Have to say I predicted a Johnson decline this year (0 or 1 wins), and so far that prediction has looked good. The 48 team looks awful.

Hey @MarcusSMI, once @amsupdates is eventually repaved do you think we could revert back to its original configuration?? #AskMarcus

Hey there Dale, welcome back to America, almost! Thanks for asking, I’m always up for a challenge! We can look at it and see what’s possible!

Question for you Dale ... do you think we should repave now or try another season?

Up to the drivers. They probably would like to wait as long as possible.

I never understood why they changed the original configuration. It was a mile and a half track, with each straightaway being a quarter mile long. Big sweeping corners. It was fantastic racing.

I don't root for the 48 but that team being a part of the Championship conversation is good for NASCAR. He's one of the few people that has a name that people outside of the sport know. In a transition year, NASCAR needs the old as much as it needs the new.

Jeff Gluck's quiet track pic. Man, look how rough that Atlanta surface is.....

Although I think Johnson is in part declining as a driver. He's getting little help from the other drivers when it comes to setup most likely, considering the other 3 have a combined total of 1.5 seasons in the Cup series. Byron was like 5th from last and got lapped before the 1st competition caution yesterday.
Harvick was the best driver and should have won, and did. Simple as.

Because SMI believes Charlotte is the only correct shape for a race track.

How do you feel about Byron being placed in cup to early

You’re patting yourself on the back after he’s had all of 2 points races in the new ZL1, with a blown tire and a plate race big one???

I for one will be waiting to see how he performs at tracks like Fontana, Dover and Martinsville before I write off “ole 7 time”.

Agree with the assessment that Jimmie doesn't have enough drivers that can give good feedback, which is why I think they'll struggle.

It looks to me that Byron was rushed (I seen these struggles from him coming and I expect them to continue at the beginning of the year), might have been a better idea to have Kenseth in the 5/24 for a year and then put in Byron.

Let him learn by fire this year and then we will have a true sense of what he can do.

most of it sounds like early Larson stuff until he started winning, and then most of em were shouting ya heard it from me first and doing a happy dance.

Haven't seen any mention of how bad the Fords were......Crickets. I love Brad Kez. Seriously, his "unfair advantage" bull**** is what NASCAR should be. It's fun. He has a Ford hat on. He pisses off the non-Ford fans. Pisses off the Toyota drivers. Then, Denny shoots back before the presser after the race. I like it.

Many parallels drawn from the Toyota development curve last year compared to the Chevy this year. Gonna just awesome to see if it pans out. I think that Ford will be fine.

Joey Meier was on NASCAR Radio last night and talked about The Hawkeye taking something away from the Toyotas to slow them down. It's going to be awesome to watch them gain that back. What a freakin' chess match! This sport is so damn cool. Seriously, I cannot get enough of this!

You won't hear anything bad about the Fords when they finish one two three.(5 in the top 10) and one, two in Xfinity. They are too busy hugging the Hawkeye machine.:p. On to Vegas. Kyle is already saying he was snookered.

I like it. This is going to get very interesting...."Fans" already bitching about the Camaro.....

All eyes on the Chevy..they have some race data at least for next week. I think Larson and Elliott are going to be top 10 again. Looking really forward to the Xfinity race. Blaney, Larson, And KDB entered. Bell is way back in points, so he is going to be hustling. the car. Reddick thinks he can drive. Truex fighting for his life with a one car team. That race has all of the components of a good one.
