Audi to F1 2026

Will that along with the addition of Cadillac result in the return of a 26 car starting grid?

They’ve assumed complete ownership over what used to be Sauber, so the grid will feature 22 cars. Audi originally committed to F1’s 2026 regs back in 2022, bought a 25% stake in Sauber in early 2023, and purchased the remaining shares in increments until completely taking over the organization this year in time for 2026.

Thanks, and it is at least going in the right direction. I like the 26 car grids we had years ago (as long they can make a minimum speed).

wonder if BMW will come back to f1 read they have not really done much since 2009

The last 26 car grids were in early 1995 if I'm not mistaken.
Expanding the grid beyond 22 is gonna be difficult. The effort to get Cadillac on the grid took years and a $450.000.000 entry fee. And unfortunately we lost Michael Andretti in the process.

I kinda miss the early 2010s when not every team was "perfect". Alpine is the best worst team in the history of the sport.
