Austin Dillon's pole time disallowed

I'm trying to figure out what an 'explanatoon' is. Maybe he's drunk.
Maybe it's just me. I'm still waiting to tap into this weekends beer supply yet so I'm a little on edge but seriously, I'm just looking for a little info on this subject not posting guidelines.

Don't pay him any mind.

I think GroundPounder is right. They used the cool air hose to get air out from under the car. Maybe NASCAR will explain it all after the penalty.

I'm sure they will. I was just wondering if it was intended to be connected to the box for his 'cool suit' or anything along those lines. Whatever the deal is those guys sure are slipping there @ RCR. Too bad IMO but come on guys, get with the program.

I'm not sure where the cool box gets it's air from. I thought it was from those channels in the side window.

RCR had the funky nose pieces, then Sadler and Dillon get caught with low cars. Now this. I find it hard to believe that an organization building some of the fastest cars on the track are that inept. Perhaps Richard is bringing the whole Dale Sr replacement routine too far.

That may start a sheet storm. Just funnin', Sr fans.

I really could. DIRECTV has a special channel for Premier Package subscribers that supplies HD images of the car interiors along with 24bit audio encryption. I was able to run it through a waveform analyzer and it became blatantly obvious that the was illegal venting in the mid rear of the vehicle. I'm surprised no one else noticed.
The only illegal venting going on is the smoke you are trying to blow up my ass.

Speaking of Smoke, Stewart had his qualifying time disallowed for the same reason as Dillon.

Stewart qualified second for Saturday's Cup race, behind pole winner Matt Kenseth, with a speed of 192.361 mph. After the session ended, NASCAR announced that Stewart's time also had been disallowed, moving Ryan Newman, Stewart's teammate at Stewart-Haas Racing, to the front row. Stewart now will start 42nd in the 43-car field.

This must have been a flagrant foul for NASCAR to act so swiftly.

Wow. Are guys getting desperate for wins? What happens when a guy wins and gets the WC spot, then on Monday nascar finds they cheated?

When I was watching quals I knew the 14 was illegal. I just wanted to see if the officials would find it.

I don't buy the whole 'didn't help us' BS. If you drop the spoiler, the car is faster. How much faster? Chad went through a ton of trouble to keep 1/3 of the air off the spoiler that Austin benefited from.
If you drop the front of the car it will be faster. Rear lower = front higer = slower. So its not BS sir Fender

Really? Lets teel Chad those C-covers were a waste. Teams work hard to take air OFF of the spoiler to reduce drag and make the car go faster. Chad C-covers, MWR windsheild shaving and michaels trick spoiler on his truck are just 3 examples. The fact that exactly the same thing happened to 2 RCR winners this year says a ton.

Correct. Except for RP tracks where you want the rear low.

Need rear high for to get air on the spoiler for downforce through the corner.

Simple stuff.

So it happened at a none plate track. Parts fail, stuff backs off, not everything done is on purpose. He had a fast car to get the pill at Kentucky and must of passed tech after that and had a fast car from the start.

Agree. They were hooked up at Kentucky despite being a touch low.

Cap that plugs the fresh air hose fell off during Stewarts qualifying run, not an intentional act of cheating but a technical violation non the less.....did'nt make much difference in the outcome of the race anyway. 42nd to Win, both Stewart and Newman had very strong cars congrats!

From SBNation:
In addition, Austin Dillon's No. 3 team committed a similar vent hose penalty during qualifying for the Nationwide Series race. Dillon was fined six points and his crew chief, Danny Stockman, was suspended for two races. Stockman had already been on probation and was just penalized last week. The team's car chief, Robert Strmiska, was also suspended for two races (and had also been on probation).

Six points? For a third time offender?
