Auto Club Predictions

Unfortunately I think Jimmie wins here again.

But I'm hoping Jeff can clinch his spot early so we don't have to sweat it out again....he has been arguably the most consistent driver this year, at least one of the most consistent.

Although I'm not a stick and ball sports fan and I truly don't even know any names to use as an example, but I find it interesting that folks like one driver on a certain race team, but don't like another (Jeff and Jimmie in this case). To me it seems like wanting a quarterback to do well and win a game, but being upset that the running back on the same team got the MVP in the same game.
Obviously I am a Hendrick fan, I like them all very much, Jimmie is just my favorite driver on that team.
I am also a Roush fan now that Kenseth is gone with Carl being my favorite, even though my family happens to be in Biffs crew...(did I just say that out loud?)...lol.
I also like team Penske too (more so with dodge, but whatever) and Brad being my favorite there.
Please don't get me started with Gibbs...They have all kinda of strikes against them in my eyes!

Kinda hard to bet against Jimmie at Auto Club Speedway. Near top 5 average finish here throughout his career. Would not be surprised if Greg Biffle challenges this week as well.

It's like being a cowboys fan. It's damn near impossible to find a fan of both Tony Romo & the cowboys.

Cause it's not a team sport.

The next time Jimmie helps Jeff out on the track will be the first.

Plus what fun is it being a fan of 7 drivers? That's like me saying I'm a fan of the Red Sox and the Yankees. 1 driver and 1 driver only. I'm struggling mightily to figure out who I am going to root for once Jeff retires.

I have a suggestion for a "new" driver :D

I am a fan of one driver, I could care less who he drives for or who his team mates are. Thats just the way I am

I find it odd myself when I see a Jimmie fan that doesn't care for Gordon and vice versa.

I mean, hello...there is a huge contradiction there. You either like them both or hate them both.

Personally I like Jimmie, he's not my favorite but because Gordon groomed him I like him and when Gordon is not winning races I much rather he be the one doing the winning as opose seeing the competition eat up all the wins.

I'm a Hendrick guy but definitely dont care for Kahne. I like drivers that know where they're standing. Kahne is an air head.

But when he wins, he adds to the Hendrick win total so I'm ok with that too.

Noon tomorrow, we're gonna see what kinda speed this new aero package produces at a non-plate superspeedway. I can't wait. I predict this year's race will be better than last year (sans the controversial ending.)

bobby ---all 3 days at track for you ?

I won't be there Friday, because I have to work but I'll be there early Sat morning and early Sun morning. We were going to take the motorhome both days but we are gonna take the train on Sunday. The train station is less than a mile from my house and drops us off at the track. I'd prefer the motorhome all weekend but not everyone can coordinate the same time off work.
I'm off next week. I had the week off after Vegas, too.

Not a team sport? Interesting! I happen to know some guys working down at the Roush shop building cars that would say something completely different than what you just said. I fact their pay checks and the rings on their fingers would prove that it is very much a team sport!
Seems like watching races would be miserable if I only rooted for one driver at every lap of every race.

Nascar is a sport where it's okay to like more than one driver. It's hard to watch if you don't have a rooting interest in something

Pretty old rings...

Pretty old rings...
Jack spares no expense and rewards the car builders nicely, especially daytona wins, not just championship rings. It even goes so far that Roush guys got rings for building Trevor's Daytona winning car! If that's not a team sport I don't know what it is!

Great insight John c , thanks .

Everyone gets a trophy huh?

I think this one will be a snoozer. 6.5 out of 10
california has put on some great races the last couple years. The pavement is old and there is quite a bit of tire wear combine that with a huge rear spoiler which should bring some draft effect even more into it. We should see a decent race.

Auto Club' slocale in SoCal will have a lot of empty seats, long green runs, but fantastic restarts and maybe a good finish 7.5 out of 10

Trophy? The trophies are limited to the actual pit crew guys and not only the ones over the wall either, but I never said anything about trophies anyway. What I did say was rewards and rings. Yes the guys at the shop that were directly hands on with building the winning car are rewarded monetarily and in some cases with a matching ring, that's how Jack shows his appreciation.

To expect any and all fans to have to like the teammates of their favorite driver is...is...well, something:confused:

I'm predicting maybe a Bloody Mary for breakfast, ice cold ale in the afternoon with BBQ'd grub in-between. Oh yeah...and awesome racing :beerbang:
Carl won at Bristol, so I wouldn't mind seeing Kyle get the win (again) at Auto Club Speedway.

i was with you right up until that kyle thing...

Tire wear is there, and we have multiple grooves. I sure hope it's a good race and doesn't get strung out.

That will possibly be the key to this race. I like this old surface and the havoc it causes with the strategies.
