Automotive Pornography

There’s something about those late 40s, early 50s Cadillacs.
Yeah, they are beautiful.

OK, I have a few days off this week and was supposed to be in Samoa However it hasn't worked out this time and after going to Nelson to that Car museum I'm inspired to venture even further south to Invercargill...home of the World Fastest Indian...Burt Munro...they have a few Museums there that I want to check out.

Quite a long way so plan to spend the night

I enjoyed the movie The World's Fastest Indian which is about him. For those who don't know about the guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burt_Munro

So, got back last night from Invercargill, NZ where I went down and did an overnighter with the purpose being to visit 3 automotive attractions.
I gotta say in mid winter there doesn't seem to be a lot else to do in Invercargill.
On the flight down the flight was full and I was given the jumpseat up with thepilots

I arrived around 1.30pm and after checking into a motel room still had time to visit one of the sites. Classic Motorcycle Museum

I was particularly interested in the Kiwi bits with Ivan Mauger's Speedway bike from his last Championship in 1977 and memorabilia from his Long Track wins in 1976, along with John Britten who designed a record setting bike with innovative design and materials...the guy was a mechanical engineer and made his own race bike and of course Burt Munro the Kiwi from Invercargill who went to Bonneville on an Indian that worked on himself and set a LSR that still stands till this day. But with 300 bikes on display there was a lot to see. I'll send a few pics

The gold helmet says 77 so I'll have to check on that

So the next day....(yesterday) I went to the Bill Richardson Transport World which is actually on the same street, mabe 3 miles away.
I have to say it was quite amazing.

This private collector of trucks and vintage Autos along with gas pumps, juke boxes, tractors, excavators and memorabilia had an awesome collection. One of the Trucks I really wanted to see was Big Tex the Dodge Airflow Texaco truck....Just beautiful.

Ok after that there are hundreds of other vehicles to see. He has an extensive collection of early Fords. All the Letter cares except the rare Model B from the first series. The Ford went and started The Lettering Cars again!

Not to mention Wurlitzers.
He had about 40

If any of you ever end up in Invercargill for some ungodly known reason make sure you check that place out. You won't be disappointed.

Ok so I'm on a schedule here so had to move to my 3rd stop E Hayes and Sons before heading to the airport for my flight back home. It started raining as I was walking and was about 43 dregrees down there while I was walking there
This place is a hardware store and sells some clothing....and Oh, it has a few cars and motorcycles to look at whilst you shop. o_O

And then I went to the airport for my flight home. My trip was made before I got to Invercargill by being put in the ****pit of the airplane on the way down.
So I thoroughly enjoyed it
