Bellator MMA partners with Monster and NASCAR to bring fights to races

At California Speedway they have a stage set up outside of the seating area where some pretty good bands play. I know you said you only go to watch the races but I love listening to the concerts before the race starts. They had Queen Nation playing this year and "imo" that concert was better then the race was.
Did the inclusion of a concert or the presence of any band influence your ticket buying decision? If there were no concerts in the future, would you stop buying race tickets?

If it doesn't make any difference in the number of people who attend, why do tracks pay for sideshows? They're not 'free', spectators are paying for them in the cost of the ticket.

I like it! Good chance it brings more attention to both sports from crossing fan bases. Plus Ive always been a MMA fan. Qualifying... Fight.. Race.. Gold!

The cross promotion opportunities are endless. I can see it now.. Highlight reels of knockouts and split decisions mixed with wrecks and photo finishes paired with a fast upbeat country or heavy rock song.. Im already drawn in by the commercials!

No it would not influence me about buying tickets. But, sponsors usually pay for the concerts. It use to be Stater Bros at Cal Speedway, but I forgot who it was this year. The same thing with the fan fair and hauler parade on Thursday.

Assuming this is for real, will an MMA promo cause people to buy tickets who wouldn't buy them for the race alone? Will those people still be buying tickets in two years when Monster leaves and takes MMA and the rest of its 'edgy lifestyle' with it?

I'm guessing the answers are 'No' and 'No'. Say the shoe was on the other foot. I might show up outside an MMA event to watch a free promo race if it was happening locally. I wouldn't travel or stay overnight to see it, and the promo wouldn't induce me to buy a ticket and watch the fights.

I don't get how this will sell more tickets. Or is that the goal?

IMO, a group of people are tossing spaghetti against the ceiling desperately hoping something sticks.

This sort of thing reminds me of all the hoopla on here about Kyle going down to visit JLo for a beat down and how many were saying "this is exactly what Nascar needs" and the incident would bring Nascar much needed publicity and expose the series to others. The general public saw the incident and said "YAWN" and didn't give another thought to Nascar.

For the event scheduled for the plate race, maybe they’ll build a chain-link cage to hold ten to fifteen of the half nekkid, bald guys while they beat the snot outta one another ‘n call it The Big One.

They left out the word 'edgy'. Someone will probably be fired for that.

I have no idea what a 'lifestyle experience' is. If it involves MMA then they can give mine to someone else.

Oh, come now, Charles.

Blood and snot flying through the air isn't appealing?
