Thanks....that seems to be what I recall being released. Like someone else said I believe there had to be more to it than that for him to lose his job over?
My guess is there was several reasons they wanted to get rid of him and this just allowed them to do it.

When I was a kid I loved the segments when Jackie Stewart would jump into the convertible with his cap on and take everyone for a lap on the F1 track pre-race.

Dr Jerry Punch was pretty good, he had a long run. I liked Chris Economaki because he has a way of talking that made you think it was important what he was saying. He could make paint drying sound exciting.

The Comfort Inn at Manchester had no room service. It's a Comfort Inn for crying out loud...

I don't know the real story, but I know that Motel doesn't offer amenities found at Hotels. I've stayed there, and it's what you would expect.

Allen Bestwick, Wally Dallenbach and Benny Parsons for me.
Ran into Allen in a shoe store in East Greenwich R.I. about 10 years ago. I was respectful, and said "Good morning, I like your work". He smiled and said " thank you,
I like your hat". I realized it was a beat up NHIS hat. We both chuckled and went about our business, and no one bothered him. He is the real deal...

On the other end my nightmare booth would be Jeff Burton teamed with bass angler Wesley Strader.

Their voices together would crack the screen.

I don’t mind Burton. He gets kinda excited but doesn’t seem to show any favoritism, which I can’t stand. He doesn’t brag on his kid or defend him when he screws up. He was respected in the garage enough he was called the “Mayor” so that says sorry about the man.

Burton has to learn to stop and breath as well as talk normal. many times he sounds like someone lifted him by his britches.

I don't mind him or Dale but I have to admit the first time I saw them referred to here as "the screeching gerbils" I laughed so hard that my wife came in the room to see what was so funny. I get it, they can be a bit much at times but one certainly can't deny their passion.

I always liked Bob, Ned and Benny. The trio just worked perfectly in bringing the viewer a quality experience.

- Chris Economaki was a good studio host and his frank,/brutally honest questions to down and out drivers after a wreck/mechanical failure were sometimes cringe worthy....lol. He always seemed to finish the interview with a quick "better luck next time".
- I always liked Jerry Punch as a pit and sideline reporter. Very professional.
- Watching an ABC race from the 80s that Keith Jackson does is worth it!
- Mike Joy has been around for a looong time...
