Well, they're the same fans who hated Steve Letarte and thought he was costing Jeff Gordon 20 wins a year.

Letarte sucked. He certainly wasn't anything close to Evernham, wasn't as good as Robbie Loomis, wasn't even on Brian Whitesell's level. Letarte was a mediocre crew chief on his best day.
Gustafson, however, is really damn good. He doesn't deserve a lot of the criticism thrown at him
In this case, the thread should read big brains of the week. I can't be sure that it wasn't the big brains in the trailer who were the ones who sent the message to the crew chief who in turn sent it in code to Elliott to pit. After all they are getting paid big bucks to do something to justify their existences.

Not sure Gustafson gets the big brain of the week. I would agree he got the big lucky break of the week.
I would call it a educated gamble that worked to win the race. Hamlin also did his part when he ran Blaney into the wall and in turn bent up his rear end. Kudos to bonehead Hambone for the help, karma is a bitch.
