Blame Carl Edwards for this crazy Silly Season

Could be Hendrick or another team might have tried to swipe Jones like they did Byron. so ol Joe put the screws to Kenseth..after all he said they make plans for years. That was what he was saying to Kenseth anyway. Couldn't lose another one

One day Matt Kenseth is being stabbed in the back by Joe Gibbs and the next day he is not having his contract renewed in order to retain the services of the next generation of drivers. An epiphany perhaps?

By 2019 Carl would have been gone anyway and Arris would have had their boy in the car 1 year later than later. Carl means nothing to the Mexican race fans, their own boy is who they watch and so the sponsor has the right driver in the car.
You realize Arris markets products internationally, including in the US, right? If all they were interested in was the Mexican market, they could run several cars in that country's series for less money.

I understand the implications and I am sure they also understand the advantage of having their driver in the car. It just so happened that they got him a year sooner. I have no doubts that was the plan to begin with and JUST MAYBE Carl was informed so he stuck it to them the only way he could.

This story is just low hanging fruit. It is not carl edwards fault Junior hasent looked like he even wanted to be a nascar driver for at least 10 years. Or that him and Kenseth just got old. Or that drivers make so much money they do not need to race in to their 50's anymore.

I just want to point out that KBM/JGR swipped Byron first. Before he raced in the Trucks he raced for JRM in late models. So Jr basically just got his driver back.

same thing with Elliott, Hendrick gave him a tricked up car to run..should have heard Andy squawk about it:p. Hendrick already had him in a death gri,p he wasn't going anywhere.

I'm confused on how that's the same thing. I just was pointing out Byron os back where he belongs and should have been all along.

They have. One of Carlos Slim's company Tercel sponsored Daniel Suarez in the Mexican series since 2011 and has been his sponsor and family friend since before that. You figuring this out yet :p

On March 29, 2007, Slim surpassed American investor Warren Buffett as the world's second richest person with an estimated net worth of US$53.1 billion compared with Buffet's US$52.4 billion.

Here is more Info as to why Arris is on Suarez's car. Because the big dog suggested it.
The brand also was approached about promoting diversity through sponsorship of Suarez, a Mexican driver, by Carlos Slim Domit, chairman of the Mexican conglomerate Grupo Carso and the son of Carlos Slim, one of the richest men in the world. The elder Slim is chairman and CEO of América Movil, a telecommunications company headquartered in Mexico City that is Arris’ biggest international customer and one of the largest mobile-network operators in the world.

Since Arris has placed a high value on the Latin-American market, it decided to accept the younger Slim’s pitch and back the rookie Suarez.

Figured what out? That Suarez has a sponsor that likes him? That doesn't make their relationship any different from a dozen other racers and sponsors. GEICO loves them some Casey Mears, Subway had the hots for Edwards, GM wasn't turning loose of Earnhardt without being subjected to blunt objects; and those are just the ones that don't involve family connections. Suarez just happens to have found one earlier than usual.

But addressing the original subject, there's still nothing 'sillier' than usual about this season. If anything, it's quieter than most (so far). There's nothing to the original article that wasn't hashed out back in February. Even if Carl was still there, Kenseth's contract would still be up, and Gibbs would still be releasing him for Jones.

Here is what you said. I answered that. don't be crawfishin.:D They wanted a Mexican driver in the series period. And they make Penske's money pocket change.

Crawfishin'? Lo siento; no comprendo.

In any case, I was responding to Team Penske's post #39. He said Arris wasn't interested in Carl because he wasn't Mexican. I pointed out that Arris has interests outside Mexico.

Arris wasn't interested in just ANY Mexican. As you've noted repeatedly, they've been hooked up with Suarez for years. My reply to you was that other drivers have similar relationships. I don't see what the fuss is about that. If his talent hadn't been sufficient for him to advance to the Cup level, they would have stuck with him in whatever series he max'ed out in. Arris wouldn't be sponsoring another Hispanic in Cup if Suarez was still racing trucks.

Oh ok, sorry about that. yeah Arris is based in Georgia, but some arm twisting from the Carlos Slim bunch and they are Nascar racing in the U.S.

No big deal. I still maintain Carl Edward's departure hasn't resulted in a 'crazy silly season', that Kenseth was going to be out at the end of the year regardless. So far this is a 'silly season' with no cars in play.

I though so too when I read the article, I thought it would be a good bench racing topic when I read it. Pockrass stirring the silly season pot

Yeah, I don't think Carl's retirement affected Matt in any way .. Matt was going to be out of a ride when his contract expired regardless. I take it Carl would be following Matt out the door had he stuck around to finish out his contract with JGR.

Yeah could be the same thing that has happened now just a different time frame. Suarez would be starting in 2018 and Jones after Carl's contract expired.
