Boldon to join NASCAR announcing?

“Ato is a curious guy and I want someone who loves cars, but is also from a different sports world,” Flood said. “I want a fish out of water to show what NASCAR is all about.”

It sounds like his work will not appear during the race so this is probably the first and last I will hear of this guy. What he is going to do could be very helpful to new viewers or fans but for the longtime fan it will seem like they are being fed pablum.

That flood guy doesn't seem to get it either so pot meets kettle.

"Flood told the Associated Press that Boldon is perfect for this position"

NBC doesn't do a good job selling it either.

"NBC says Boldon will look at the fans loyalty to NASCAR and as well as looking at the sport’s history at Daytona"

If that's the case, then what exactly will he learn being a hauler driver? That has nothing to do with fan loyalty.

I am guessing they just needed filler for some of the programming.

Give the guy a chance. We've all had new jobs at some point and we'll see how quickly he learns his new field. If he is doing features he needs to be a good story teller.

I am going on Rachel Ray and IDK anything about cooking but I can tell jokes and insult the audience......:D

He can't be any worse than Rutledge Wood or that shyster Fox had on during their first couple of seasons. The article makes it sound like most of his stuff will be shown during pre-race, and I don't watch that anyway.

just about time to start MRN simulcasting i see.
nbc = fingernails on chalkboard.

Same here as I will never know if the guy is any good or not. I didn't realize Wood was on any Nascar programs but I can't imagine what he would have added.
