This is a very experimental race. Eddie Gossage wants to increase the race to 600k (360 miles). It was 500K last year, they bumped it this year and will again to the 600 next year. This is all because with the 24 degree banking, the drivers will be facing 2-4G's the entire race between the straights and turns, considering a lap is a hair under 25 seconds i believe.

Yes, in 2001 CART drivers walked away from was supposed to be the inaugural race this race track because the Gs were too much. I want to say they were experiencing 5 Gs, but CART ran speeds around 230+ MPH (IRL speeds are usually 5-10MPH slower).
I'm excited about 28 drivers in a race!

Open wheel racing will never be as exciting as NASCAR.

Then don't watch it and don't make any comments on the subject. Nobody asked for your opinion.

Well, in Practice session 1, Scott Dixon is still going strong. He tops the speed chart in this session. The shocker to me is the 3rd fastest....John Andretti.. The speeds are really close and tight in the top positions.

Here are the results of Practice Session 1...

He had a crash in turn 4. Hit his ankle hard in the car's tub but x-rays showed nothing broken and he is cleared to race. It turned out good.

is this race tape delayed on TV?

EDIT: to answer my own question: The race actually starts at 9:30pm ET. I think it can be watched live online at www.indycar.com or tape delayed at 10pmET on ESPN2 after the Nationwide Race finishes.

We had bad storms roll in so we lost power for almost a day. I couldnt get the starting grid up. Sorry.

However, Scott Dixon is on the pole. Nothing new there. Good job Scott.

My girl Danica qualified 5th. Im proud of her. Should be a good race.

Ryan Hunter Reay wrecks Marco Andretti and Andretti is hurt!

6 laps to the finish under caution. For the second straight race.

Has IRL ever heard of a red flag? This is unfortunante. Crappy finish.

ATTENTION INDYCAR SERIES: Take lessons from NASCAR.

Well, Scott Dixon continues his hot streak. He takes another win again with starting on the pole. Kudos to Scott. He did win with the race under caution. Ryan Hunter-Reay made contact with Marco Andretti late in the race causing the yellow. Both drivers are ok.

I think Ryan Briscoe finished a great race considering the bad luck he had. They had to replace a front nose on his car. He was penalized another time and had to do a drive-thru in pit lane getting a lap down and he managed a 3rd place finish.

Danica finishes 10th. Unfortunately, she was never up in the front but there is the next race.

Here are the final results....
