Bonehead: Martinsville

"That's Martinsville, green-white-checkered," Gordon said. "There are no guarantees at this place. Anytime they stack them up like that on a restart, you know it's going to get ugly in the first couple of corners. I was just hoping to get a decent start. I got a good jump, but then the tires spun. I didn't know if Clint had a big run or what happened. I guess he got a run and then the No. 39 gave him a pretty big shot. It pretty much took us all out there."
Asked if he would talk to Newman about it, Gordon shook his head.
"No. That was two cars back behind me," Gordon said. "I could sit here and say he ran in the No. 15 and sent Clint sliding down and took three of us out. There is no use in talking about it. It's just hard racing, guys trying to get every edge they can. Sometimes they do things that win them the race, sometimes they do things that cause wrecks -- and sometimes they do both."

I don't care who you are ,if you don't have the equipment to run with the big dogs , get out of the way. Move or be moved . Everyone in the top ten had one objective , get by those two slow cars at the front. DW's blocking plan was just short of cheating, and was sure to cause a big wreck. When everyone else pitted ,their day was done. Simple as that.
LOOK IGMO,IF THEY PITTED N NO ONE ELSE DID,THEYD BEEN SHONUFF FLUCKED.

From BOB POCKRASS

Newman hit Bowyer in the rear bumper on the restart, shoving Bowyer up the inside lane to make it three-wide with Gordon and Johnson. Bowyer then slid into Gordon, who spun and took out Johnson, his Hendrick Motorsports teammate.

“Clint is a friend of mine,” Gordon said. “He is a great racecar driver. It was not like him to do that. He said he got a hit from behind from the No. 39 (of Newman).
I didn’t get the best restart. The tires were really old. I spun the tires a slight bit."

And that is the reason the 24 and 48 got run over on the restart.

Na$car for not throwing the yellow when it became obvious Reuti couldn't get down because of cars passing him to get into the pits.

Reutimann was in position to come into the infield shortly before his car quit. He had an opening and the way was clear for him to take it. Looking at the finish, I don't think that he could lose any points by pitting at that point and his move almost cost the team another point because they had to run 15 extra laps, if they had had to go to another gwc, he would have lost a point to the 18 car. As for the 48 and 24; if they had pitted for tires and fuel before the first gwc, at least some of the cars behind them would have stayed out and they wouldn't have gotten back to the front so either pitting or not they were screwed. They should have done what the 2 and 3 did during the truck race; let the leader take the high line of the restart and the second place driver let him in and they they would have had a lap and a half to duke it out with each other. BUT they would never have been in that position if Reutimann and TBR hadn't done what they did.

I hope Nascar called Ruietman to the trailer after the race to thank him. He made a real yawner of a race into something that people would talk about all week. I guess them Hendrick drivers think they are so special that all the others should just get out of the way and let them win.

Yepp. Just remember there's more than 4 cars out on the track trying to make a living off this sport. And if it hadn't been Ruiet that caused the caution it could have been somebody else. It was the stupid call not to pit that made 24 and 48 sittin ducks. But thats racin so get over it.

I was going to say that the bonehead award should go out to all of whiners about yesterday's race. Two weeks ago most on here were crying for some action like that @ Bristol. You got the bump & run as well as your wreck but the complaints still roll in. Again, I was going to say that was where the award should go but after seeing the other thread about Jeff Gluck and his related article, I'm nominating him.

IF THE 24 AND THE 48 HAD HAVE PITTED,NO ONE ELSE WOULD HAVE,MAYBE 88.

You just don't get it, do you? Water cooler moments are what we all want. I haven't seen many complaints about it being a boring race, have you?

Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes he gets you. Either way, it makes for a great story.

n I'll say the reason AJ didnt fight for the win, couse JR. coulda passed both,n BK held up JR. [I know its your job,but JR. started BK's caerear]
