NASCAR ..For the "Rain" caution...
I did just see the hauler going by the hotel and the breaks on the hauler was already glowing red.Whoever is in charge of Brad K's brakes. I bet that thing locked up pulling onto the hauler to head back to NC.
Wouldn't that ultimately be Brad?Whoever is in charge of Brad K's brakes. I bet that thing locked up pulling onto the hauler to head back to NC.
Me, for not choosing to do something else today.
I normally don’t watch anything Daytona. Bored AF here, been locked down for a year. I thought I’d give it a try.Sounds like just another race day, no ?
If they hadn't threw the yellow and someone crashed due to a little moisture on the track we would have never heard the end of it...kind of like we are right now.The cloud looked dark and ominous on TV anyway. If a stray bolt of lightning shot out of that thing with all of the people there somebody could be injured would be my guess as to why the threw the flag. As it was, the cloud and rain lessened. It could have just as easily became larger and more threatening.
Slowing the cars down wouldn’t prevent lightning lmao and nobody made an order for fans to take shelter. The caution was purely for entertainment purposes. The cloud looked dark and ominous on TV anyway. The skies were dark over turn 3 for hours and everyone had rain equipment. If teams were worried, they would have came down pit road for wets. Every car had rain on their cameras after coming through turn 6 for several laps and nobody came down - they werent concerned enough. Let the professional drivers and teams make their own decisions. If they hadn't threw the yellow and someone crashed due to a little moisture on the track we would have never heard the end of it...kind of like we are right now.
Who’s that guy on top of him?live look at BK's ride home

Yep. it would be why didn't NASCAR throw the caution??? It was raining cat's and dogs in turn one.If they hadn't threw the yellow and someone crashed due to a little moisture on the track we would have never heard the end of it...kind of like we are right now.
This is moving the goal posts though. Your arguing that the cars simply can’t race in the rain. That’s a different argument. My argument is that NASCAR should let the professionals decide what to do, especially when they allowed the teams to come equipped with rain equipment just in case. Having a caution for rain and not a single team opted for rain tires and NASCAR made no effort to dry the track just proves that the teams and NASCAR both knew that stopping the race wasn’t necessary.Yeah, it doesn't work that way with stock cars just yet. You pull that, and you will have the "Big One" at the 500 look like a little one. I would hope with the new car, and all of the road courses on the schedule that someday we could get there.
No.Sounds like just another race day, no ?
Yet the race continued just a few minutes later with dry equipment lmaoSection 10.6.5.a of the Cup rulebook states that when a race has started under dry conditions, NASCAR will call a caution when officials determine “conditions are too ‘wet’ to continue under ‘dry’ condition equipment.”
I thought the days of the phantom debris cautions were over, but they just come in different forms now.
Meh. It's not unusual for Nascar to go to caution for a shower, and then after a few laps under yellow, the shower dissipates and green flag racing resumes. It happens every year. Quit crying. Sometimes the rain stops, and sometimes it doesn't. The only sure thing is that *someone* will complain.Yet the race continued just a few minutes later with dry equipment lmao
This is where this argument falls apart. It's not unusual for Nascar to go to caution for a shower, and then after a few laps under yellow, the shower dissipates and green flag racing resumes.
you continue to miss the boat. For instance throwing a caution for debris because it is a hazard? Does that mean they all have to come in and check their cars for loose debris? Try using the same logic. The caution was called because the track was getting hazardous in turns one and two because of a potential rain event...SOME cars stayed out(that's what happens when a caution flag instead of a red flag is flown) ..that should tell a person that the track was getting assessed to see if they could continue to keep racing. It wasn't about installing wet condition equipment. Troll on though I'm done here. This is where this argument falls apart.
NASCAR said that they threw the caution because their officials determined that conditions were too wet to continue with dry equipment.
Yet after a few laps under caution and nobody installing wet condition equipment, they resumed racing? Track conditions too wet to continue with dry equipment do not magically dry up after a few minutes even if the rain dissipates. Either the track still has to dry or teams have to install rain equipment. Neither happened.
Their statement and reasoning makes no sense.
It takes about ~40 seconds to pit for rain tires at most tracks. Nascar wants to avoid incentivizing risk takers to stay out on slicks to avoid a green flag stop. As a safety concern, it's not a trivial matter. Anyone that's ran slick tires on a damp track in changing conditions knows this.
