Bonehead of the Race - Kansas 1

I think that was Mr. Senna's excuse until he admitted to deliberately wrecking Prost for the championship.
Maybe.

I prefer to think he means that doing that is an instinctive response. Naturally, I could be wrong. We can't know.

Further investigation required. Get back to me when you find out. :D:D
Coach Gibbs: I went first of all to find out (what happened). We had it happen one other time. There's a bolt that bolts the inside plate and the head broke off and then it turned and when it turned it kept the tire from going on.

Martin Truex, Jr.: After the race, Truex said he understood that all of the lug nuts on his wheel were tight but a bolt behind the wheel broke and the wheel couldn’t attach fully.

From here.

I can't find fault with Hamlin nor would I with any driver that made the same move. Hamlin was not being reckless but just racing to advance his position and how was he to know what would ensue? If he had run out of talent and over drove the car it would be one thing but the whole mess was just an unfortunate circumstance.

Put 'em in 1974 Laguna's and that problem will not occur.

Of course Hamlin knew what the result would be of his diving in there. He was just hoping he could make it through himself. Like he claimed, nothing ventured nothing gained because he is locked in. He doesn't do that with a 26 race champion.

And if he had pulled it off, Hamlin could very well have driven on to the victory and we would be looking back praising him for being so daring and going for the win. Point, chase format.

It's racing. He's supposed to go for it.

There is no complicated, calculated thought process at work in the nano-second it takes to head for the open hole. You just go.

^ What Aunty said. The move screwed my guy, but still, what Aunty said.

Had Kes or Joey made that move...... you would be praising them Pete....... but...... because it was Hamlin.... it was dumb and irresponsible...

That's funny, when Brad did it and caused Jeff to lose it was treason.
