Bonehead of the Race, Las Vegas 2

I only saw one bonehead and that was the guy who changed lanes while his spotter was napping.
The result was he took out the #22 front end. You could mention the few drivers that were laps down blocking the leader as well. All in all it was a great exercise in who could make small changes to keep up with the track for night time. I think Brad K did quite well but nobody had anything for #19.

Yep.. Suarez with a side of KyBu get my vote this week

Kyle Busch was going to get a lot of flack, but Joey took it for me as well. He gets little too aggressive at times and trying to go three wide at the beginning of stage three was a bit much. He damn near wrecked himself out of the race with that move with no space on the inside.

He better be careful with those moves, it might come back to haunt him, again.

Not sure if the wall or the 52 was a bigger bonehead....

jk - it was Kyle.

That’s a good one. People will actually blame either.

And I’ll have to nominate the 18 as well with the 2 incidents screwing himself.

Driver of the 18 for his on and off track antics. What a freaking child. It's comical to me that some people will defend him calling that "passion" . How many people would tolerate that kind of "passion" out of there child when they lost?

Can’t go any other way than KyBu here.

Meanwhile, the back of the 52 and 66 cars will be sporting these at Richmond....

Gotta give it to Kyle here, and runner up to JoLo

Whoever decided to charge $5 for a bottle of water as a policy (Nevada Law supposedly doesn't allow coolers).

Followed up and voiced my complaint to the track, a representative told me that it is track policy why they don't allow coolers in.

Thats crazy. SMI allows coolers at all their other tracks so I wonder why they did this? Sorry that must have been miserable to sit through

whoever let non playoff cars participate in playoff races.
stick and ball does not allow it.

Are you kidding? You cant keep the other cars off the track with yearly contracts signed by sponsors that keep this sport going and feed thousands of people. Stick and ball play 2 teams at a time because thats all the field will allow at a time.

Yeah I'm really confused why this is a policy. I even let them know that I've been to Sonoma & NHMS this year which are both SMI and they allow 14x14 coolers. I'm guessing they're trying to make bank off water & beer concession sales, however I'm more hesitant to come back or be a season ticket holder at the track with lame policies like that. The lady/girl told me that she would pass the message along to the higher ups.

To be fair, the heat was not bad at all after the sun went behind the track around 4:30ish or so, however there was absolutely nobody in the stands for any of the practice or qualifying sessions which was disappointing.

Pure speculation from me warning
:I wonder if the recent Vegas shooting at a Jason Aldean concert led local officials to bn more restictive..

I've went to LVMS in 2007 & 2013 (Trucks) and don't recall the policies or prices being much different.

I just don't think it was a problem then because it wasn't 90-100 degrees all day at the track.

I wouldn't call it "bonehead of the race," but NASCAR should have penalized the 18 for their first pit stop after Kyle bashed the wall... gasman infraction for removing tools from the car. Tire changer used a hammer on the right rear wheel well, then tossed it toward the pit wall. His toss was short, and the hammer landed on the rear deck. Gasman removed the hammer - a non-fueling action which has been penalized in other instances since the new gasman rules were established several years ago. A drive-through would have put the 18 behind by a third lap.

Does the rule apply only while the gasman is fueling the car? If he's done fueling, both cans back over the wall, (or he never started), can he do other duties?

I didn't see the stop so I don't know the timing of his actions.

No. The gasman is not permitted to do *anything* except (a) fuel the car and (b) kick a tire back toward the wall with his foot. And if there is no fueling on a stop, that does not free him up to do other things.

Before or after fueling the car I believe the gas man can make adjustments. He can't do nothing but fuel the car when he has a gas can in his hands.
