Bonehead of the week: Loudon

I hate to pile on, but Shepherd.

I respect Shepherd and what he's done in his career, but he just seemed out of his element yesterday.

I saw the Shepard/Logano incident in person, sitting in turn 3. The replay shows nothing. Shepard tried getting real low in the turn, he got loose, and slammed into Logano. It was really a racing incident, but when you're 20-something laps down you need to give the 2nd place car more space.

Shepard is my pick.

No, you're wrong. Morgan Shepherd is a great hero to the "mature generation" and he "belongs out there" just "because". Damn that Joey Logano for wrecking himself on such a great American hero.

My pick is Logano - for his comments about Shepard being too old.
One of these days Joey will be older and his words may come back to bite him. BTW, will Joey ever act mature enough to become "Joe"?

Shepard was good enough to qualify for the race. If he wasn't maintaining minimum speed or was driving too erratically then NASCAR should have black flagged him. Previous drivers in that car have struggled with it too, and wrecked it. I feel bad for Joey that he got collected when Morgan lost control, but when you're the driver it's your responsibility to know when and how to pass somebody, and to realize when they're getting squirrely.

And shouldn't the driver getting squirrely know how to save the car after 50 years of driving?

Certainly... if the car is savable.
If you've driven you know that things can surprise you. Think you've got it handled but then hit a bump or have a wind gust or a mechanical failure.

I gotta give Logano a little credit, he never once mentioned his age in his interview.... We were all thinking it, but he never said anything.

My pick is Morgan Shepherd... That said, I don't think he should hang up the helmet until he feels like it.

From what's being said on this board, Morgan is too old to lift his helmet high enough to hang it up.

Got to go with the RTA for the week. It would have been better for them to have initiated it today.

Pretty disrestful to forum posters imo to waste it on a racing week. With 7 days under the belt to sort fact from fiction so many creative fabricating opportunities have been lost.

13 days is a long time to go.

Never fear. The black chopper crowd aint done yet.

I think he splained that in his interview, I haven't seen any video yet that proves what Morgan is saying though. He said Joey cut him which meant he came past him really close on the outside and sucked him around, he lost the front end and the rest is history. TNT pretty much missed the whole thing, got a little in car from Joey's car which doesn't really show what happened and part of it after they wrecked. I was hoping maybe a fan got it and will post it on you tube.

I saw it in person. Morgan got loose. Joey got nailed.

Morgan Shepherd. Don't slow cars usually let the faster car pass on the inside?

Old people have time to protest. Joey didn't want Shell and Pennzoil to get people ripping up their AARP cards at their front door on monday morning.

Morgan may have wrecked Joey, Tony wrecked the whole field....................... s*it happens. Joeys interview was top notch, not mentioning Morgans age was quite respectful IMO

Might as well throw in Gordon for running out of gas and turning a good finish into a bad one. But he is still on top of the standings.
