I'd like to put in an early pick.

Tony Pedregon (among others) criticized the NHRA and Englishtown's Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for not having a big enough stop zone. He stated the cars have gotten faster, but the stop-zones have not. That parachute on Scott's Funny Car never deployed and that is what he was forced to rely on.

Now, blame for this accident cannot be assigned - it happens. But I'm with Tony here, longer stop zones would be nice.

I would say that at least a gravel pit would be necessary, not just a catch net and a concrete K-rail.

Agreed. We have a gravel/sand pit larger than that and we're not even an NHRA track.

Tony Pedregon's criticism is VERY valid. That wreck footage was unbelievable.

agreed. Imagine if it had happened at pomona.

I say install aircraft carrier catch cable systems every 20 feet between the tuen off and kitty litter. Kalitta's chute diployed but was uburned off.
 
Two more candidates:

Bowyer and Logano hit on pit road, and Clint deliberately bodyslammed Logano off the pits.

Carl wrecked Stremee.

GET CUP DRIVERS OUT OF NATIONWIDE!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

My vote still goes to Old Bridge Township Motorsports Park.

So it's okay for Cup regulars to run minor league races and wreck Nationwide regulars?

Let me ask you this. Would it be okay for Curt Schilling to go to a minor league team and throw fastballs at people with the intent of hitting them with it?

I've had a huge problem with these Cup drivers' sense of entitlement. They run a minor league circuit and think everyone else should yeild to them. Hamlin and Wild Thing have done it all year.
 
Didn't watch the whole race, and only watched a few minutes of pre-race, but here's my bonehead move from Milwaukee. Someone, not sure who, was interviewing Logano, and asked, and I quote, "so how does it feel to finally get that first win?" And he emphasised the word finally. Um , hello, IT WAS ONLY HIS THIRD RACE!!! FINALLY???!!!!
 
I'm with Andy on this one. I about choked when I heard there was a concrete wall at the end of the drive off area.

I've said it before; when I was racing I would go to non-sanctioned events and run the Pro class so I could run with the big dogs and learn from them. It made me a lot faster.
What you should really be complaining about is mediocre drivers, barely competent to run Nationwide class, driving in the Cup series wrecking Cup drivers.

I don't often agree with Andy, but I do on this one. Yes Bobby, you may have learned a lot running with the big dogs, but you made it a point to run with them, they didn't come to you. IMO, too many of these Cup guys are running the whole season becasue they know they can win the championship against the lesser teams. It may be too late now, but that series was meant to be a rung in the lader to the top, not something the top guys could just go to on a whim to get in extra practice time or score a few extra bucks. They know that they're going to be faster than most of the teams in the NNS, and they're taking advantage.

I can see your point but I think what Andy is complaining about is the Cup guys wrecking out the Nationwide regulars.
 
I see both sides of that issue though I'd love to see a limit on how many races the Cuppers can race in the lower series. But my biggest gripe isn't so much the Cuppers in the lower tiered races, but rather the big money teams that have taken over those series as well. But, because NASCAR has no limits on this issue, the elites have taken advantage and will until something is done.

Problem here Bobby is that the cup series is going to have a serious drought of talent in the near future because of this.

Nationwide used to be the minor league series, now its just a shorter cup race, younger drivers arent getting the rides in the nationwide series and arent getting a change to prove themselves.

Its bad for Nationwide and its bad for the cup series in the long term.

Exactly.

Ambrose, Bires, all the young drivers are with underfunded teams that haven't done shiat.

Look at Steven Leicht. Won at Kentucky just to see the team get shut down and is stuck as a backup driver for Clint Bowyer.

I dont know how well that would work with a drag car. Seems like it may be too much of a sudden stop.
 
Maryland International Raceway's gravel pit is larger than 30 yards. And we're not even an NHRA track. This compares to Old Bridge Township's gravel pit, which is only 13.3 yards.

whats more sudden- a catch cable (even if it does tear up the front tires), a sand trap (see pomona finals 2007), catch fence (permeable), or concrete wall?

My vote still goes to E'town and the NHRA.
 
Harvick for taking himself and two other cars out of contention for the win and knocking himself out of the top 12.

Dumb pit reporters (could be used in this section every week).

The dude in Stewart's hauler area that kept trying to run off the TNT camera man. They are supposed to be there.

kurt busch wrecking robby gordon because kurt wasnt even on the lead lap at the time and he just wipped him out for no reason. it really ended up ruining the race too because it was right in the middle of pit stops and how did kasey kahne get a lap back during all this?
 
snider was trying to start crap with jr at richmond after the kyle busch deal. and JR even told him on camera he was trying to put words in his mouth to start sh!t.
 
Snider is a horrible reporter. He is always trying to create a story thats not there and asks some of the dumbest questions of any nascar reporter on any network.
 
Anybody who watches NASCAR has often seen Marty Sniders style of trying to turn drivers against one another rather than reporting the actual incident and I find it surprising someone hasn't decked him yet.

Having been a fan of this sport since 1958, have found some reporters with extensive knowledge of the sport and some without a clue. But no reporters have dug so hard in an effort to stimulate a negative reaction.

Not surprising is, Snider actually works toward a new low every week.
As if it were a badge of honor and yet Snider fails to understand he comes across looking and acting the part of a fool.

I don't like Marty Sniders reporting style.
There is a right way to report events and encourage a drivers opinion other than trying to provoke a negative response.
Responsible reporters do not engage in such low life tactics.
Marty Snider is not a responsible reporter.

Was he ever that good?

This irony of this accident is way up there. Last week he ran over and tried to antagonize Kyle Busch into doing something stupid after Busch clipped Hornaday. This week, he takes out 3-4 cars, driving WAY over his head in a car that was mediocre at best.

5 wins in 2006, a Brickyard 400, and a Daytona 500. He's good.

Childress, as a whole, is struggling. I, personally, would like to see someone other than Todd Berrier on the pit box on the 29 car. I've never liked Berrier as a crew chief, seems he and Harvick always want to play it safe. Instead of trying to get a top 5 here and there, they'd rather finish 20th. :rolleyes:

Then there was the Bristol race. Harvick should've won that. Instead, he got impatient and Busch'd Stewart.

It's a bad sign though when Harvick doesn't even content for a top-5 at Richmond. That's his best track and he lucked into a 6th place finish with a 9th place car b/c of Hamlin being a bonehead and Wild Thing doing what he does best.

This has been a really frustrating season, and I'm a huge Harvick fan. But, the pit road fukcups, the on-track collissions, and Todd Berrier's horrible calls are getting old......FAST.:mad:

Oh, and don't even get me started on Fontana last year.

I can't wait until Joey Logano gets into Cup. I just don't see Harvick staying around too long if he keeps finishing 20th while his teammates win races and get top five finishes consistently.
