Very light penalty. Many other sports, Kyle would be sitting out this weekend.

Thats very true. Kyle got off easy, not that $25,000 is chump change but usually a suspension of sorts follows this kind of thing in other sports.

By the way dpkimmel2001, I was just trying to guess why they didn't do more, I wasn't disagreeing with you. Points do matter but I can't figure out why it was just a money slap.

Because they already took points from him on Sunday. That and this wasn't an issue with the car. Kinda like the difference in getting a ticket for speeding as opposed to a "fix it" type ticket.

Try flipping off a cop and see what happens.

Flashback to some past similar incidents.....

#15 Chevrolet driver Michael Waltrip, involved in the on-track altercations with Gordon, was fined $10,000 and penalized 25 driver points because of an inappropriate gesture during a televised broadcast, while car owner Teresa Earnhardt was penalized 25 owner points. Waltrip was also in violation of Secton 12-4-A.(NASCAR PR)(9-19-2005)

NASCAR fined Shane Hmiel $10,000 and docked him 25 driver points for making an obscene gesture that appeared on live television via Hmiel’s in car camera. Owner Todd Braun was also docked 25 owner points for the incident. “I apologize for making the gesture,” Hmiel said today. “I never intended for it to end up on television. (NASCAR PR)(4-20-2005)

It looks to me like Kyle got off relatively light as opposed to some years ago. Especially considering it was an official on the receiving end. Sure, $25,000 is a bunch of money but those point deductions could have cost him much more than that.

The Hmiel/Jarrett incident was funny.

"He better hurry up because he ain't got much time left." :XXROFL:

At Martinsville (I think) a few years back, Stewart dumped the #2 and then flipped Wallace off when he came around the track. Wallace didn't think to much of that and suggested he may put Stewarts finger where the sun doesn't shine if he done it again.

Rusty was usually good for an interesting interview or two after a wreck.

JJ is still going to win. JG is still a prick. Kyle is freakon awsome and Nascar changes its mind more the Clinton changes interns, probably for the same reason. :beerbang:

I dunno, this may be the first time Johnson doesn't win a championship in 4 years.

Wouldnt put money on it. :(

All I gotta say is that Phoenix and Homestead will be interesting. There are alot of X Factors in the battle for the Championship between Johnson and Hamlin. You have mechanical failure, you have Sam Hornish, Kyle Busch may get pissed off and wreck someone. Hamlin is great on short flat tracks, but Johnson has been consistent in top 10 finishes at Phoenix. Johnson's and Hamlin teammates may also come into play.

Here are the stats for Hamlin & Johnson @ Phoenix.

This is Hamlin
@ Phoenix International Raceway 0 5 6 11.6

This is Johnson
@ Phoenix International Raceway 4 9 12 4.9

The numbers are wins, top five, top tens and avg. finishes.

Hambone will start driving over his head. Johnson is a proven champ who can handle the preasure. Im still pulling for Burton to make a comeback

I think Burton is done for the season. :p

I think Johnson will come back, I mean he wrecked in the first race of The Chase, and came back to win in Dover. For some reason he always performs better when he's behind. I expect to see some serious driving from him in the next two race.

Yep, and if he wins it, people will still ***** about it. :p

Correct. Because everyone compares everybody to Petty's 200 wins and 7 Championships, but they don't say crap about Jimmie winning two (so far) Championships that he normally wouldn't have won under the same point system as Richard Petty. If he wins this year it will be his third tarnished Championship won under a questionable points system and the first Championship robbed from Kevin Harvick.

I think Johnson will be in the back, I mean he wrecked in the first race of The Chase, and came back to win in Dover and that is the best he will do this year. I expect to see some serious wrecking from him in the next two races.

I fixed that for you. :D
