Bootie on leave.......under contract

Doug Bawel, Mark Harrah and Mark Wallace, co-owners of Jasper Motorsports, announced yesterday that they have come to a mutual agreement with Robert ‘Bootie’ Barker, crew chief for the #77 Jasper Engines and Transmissions NASCAR Winston Cup Series entry. Effective immediately, Barker is on leave of absence but still under contract with Jasper Motorsports. The decision came following the event in Charlotte.(Jasper Motorsports PR)

Something doesn't seem right here with this team. Cannot put my finger on it, but it just seems plans are going awry. First they run the Dodge at Dega knowing full well that Ford is gonna dump their contract if they do. Okay for an end of season deal if you have a back up plan, but the timing is wrong.

Now whatever a "mutual agreement" means, the bottom line is either Bootie ain't happy with the team or vice versa. Either way again it sounds like no plan is in place, just busting everything up.

Sad part is, I like Jasper Motorsports, I like Dave Blaney, and I like Bootie Barker..........Nothing much would have pleased me more that to see this team get their act together. Does not look like it is gonna hppen. There is another possibility for the reason behind Robert Barker getting a leave of absence, it is obvious, but I will not go there without cause for doing so.
 
Man, not long ago they were on the verge of winning their first race together.
 
There has been a merry go round on crewchiefs and leave of absence in the past month.
 
can it get much sillier? Wait...don't answer that, I think I know the answer to that :p

Anyone else think that maybe Bootie's leave of absence might lead him to the 22? Scott Wimmer will be taking over the Cat car after Martinsville...

They were sure hot last year.
 
I sure am hoping that is what this is all about. I'd love to see Scott and "Bootie" back together.

redrock, it's about Bootie the person. Not bootie the body part! ROTFL
 
Oh! am I the only one who thinks that "Bootie" would be a great pick to have as a crew chief on the Viagra team? :p

Now I know why I shouldn't read this when I'm eating - I almost spit soda!!!! :D

Seriously, I hope things are going to work out ok for Bootie, but it all seems odd, to say the least.
