Brian France's Replacement

I think the Team owners for the most part run the race show, and they want to keep getting paid. The big players all are pretty much mega rich and they are going to suck every penny out of the series in whatever shape it is in. Some of them were around and part of it when the split up Indycar for the last bunch of village Idiots, the others remember so they aren't going to revolt and start their own series route. Speaking of village Idiots they keep Brian well oiled and use him to make announcements and he was easily bought out and paid well for what he does. The last time he showed up at a drivers meeting what he said and if he had gone on any longer would have been a disaster WTF. Mrs. France Kennedy and Jim France are running the business end of the show and the RTA (mega team owners) are running most of the racing. That's my guess.

Nascar is in a pickle because on one hand if they let the races play out organically people call them boring and if they used bogus cautions and stages to regulate them then they are accused of manipulation.

Based on attendance and viewership from home it seems most people like plate racing the best so there may be something in showing more races where the cars are glued together with the odd gratuitous wreck thrown in for additional excitement. I don't think the answer is to have 36 plate races per year but Nascar may do well in trying to create more races where the cars are nose to tail and the winner isn't generally known until after turn 4 on the final lap.

Personally I would enjoy a series that primarily raced on short tracks and hopefully the truck series will migrate back to that as it would be fun to follow.

So the RTA should run the show?

So the RTA should run the show?

The general consensus is that they have a big hand in it now. I'm still on the fence about that. If one of the Bills we're still running the show then I would say no way.
We will see.

It was the OP's opinion that the RTA already "are running most of the racing" which, IMO, is nonsensical. The RTA got Rob Kauffman a 12 million dollar parting gift and perhaps some other concessions but that is a far cry from "running most of the racing."

Who had that opinion about the RTA???

Owners have had an influence for many years. When big Bill was around? not much
It's a good thing IMO. They have cut the tire bill by limiting how many sets in a race, got rid of the crash cart expense recently, got rid of a lot of expenses for plate race qualifying, and with the newest RTA franchise system, fees paid to members has increased and appears to be working well.
