Anyone who brings money / sponsorship to the table? The organization has obviously taken a dive again and is struggling badly. Unless they get an affiliation or help from Penske or SHR , this is on par with a seat at Front Row .
 
Someone has to drive those slugs or Nascar could drop down to 36 cars for a few years.
After that they could go to 30 cars. With only 5 prosperous owners we could see only 20 cars eventually.

On the positive side , those charters that the greedy owners granted themselves , would continue to be worthless .

Waiting to see if they make money or kill the golden goose . Looking more like the latter to me . I think they were making money before they pulled this . And they mainly did it to stop others from coming in . That , they accomplished .
 
Step 1: be a good race car driver with money & luck

Step 2: race in the grandest racing series in America

Step 3: retire before the age of 30 and live in Malibu for the rest of time


Yeah, that would be my plan too if I was in his shoes.

I think the charters go poof in 8 years or so unless there is some sort of renewal prior to that. The charters are not worth much as there is an over supply of them and very few people want or need them. Toyota will probably buy or lease one for Erik Jones presumably but that is about the only activity I expect to see. Apparently Kauffman sold his 2 franchises for 5 million bucks apiece and Gene Haas has said if you waved 5 million around to some current charter holders they would take the money in a heartbeat. 5 million bucks is 5 million bucks but to the top dogs in Nascar it is chump change.

JMO but even without the charters I don't think the owners have much to worry about with prospective owners wanting to crash the party.

I am not to be relied on as a prognosticator as I had friends and relatives in other countries ask who I thought would be the next President and I told them I didn't see a scenario where Hillary didn't win unless there was some last minute smoking gun that appeared. There is no fool like an old fool so I will guess again and say that Nascar will be forced to allow current teams to field more than 4 teams or look the other way. I don't see new owners coming as I think ownership will become even more concentrated among current owners.

Bet you said the same thing about Gilligan , Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood and the rest . Heck , Arnold Schwarzenegger was only missing a birth certificate and he would have been in there first . Put your money on Kim Kardashian in 2020 .
