It also has to be remembered that there were several days for the PR firm to help with that statement to be configured reconfigured, hashed rehashed, checked rechecked and put in front of a committee that approved the release of it. Did BV write it, I believe he did but with a lot of input from the powers that be. That is a normal procedure under adverse circumstances and an integral part of administering damage control. There will be more releases like it to come with regularity, count on it.
You are probably spot on, but even if he didn't write it he signed his name to it and that makes me have a little bit more respect for him for standing up for MWR. Now that the lines have been cleared up a little the teams should have a litttle better chance of staying inside of them....for this set of rules anyway!;)

When I heard the tapes of his radio communications I had a new respect for him, what? Pit now? Whats up? Are you sure? Gilliland at first was the same way even though he was a back marker he didn't want to give up a single spot, a racer is a racer.

We have teams trying to manipulate the outcome of races in drag racing, also. But, all they have to do is set the clutch up to smoke the tires, and there is such a fine line between smoking the tires, shaking the tires, or a clean run, that it is just about impossilble to police. Officials have went into teams trailers and looked at their tuneups on their computers and they still couldn't determine if they were cheating or not.

That's funny Johali ...Vickers and Gilliland are going.... duh ? huh ? what ? ....Bowyer , being smarter than the other two , gets it and follows orders , ....yes sir ! ....So who turns out to be the dummy ? ...Bowyer . :)
 
I have no problem with team mates giving up a spot for another...this has happened for years, particularly at the front of the field for the "lead a lap bonus point"...but what MWR did was on a bigger scale. Not only did you require a guy to spin and bring out a caution, but you bring both your other drivers to pit lane to make sure that a guy on another team goes by, to make sure your other driver makes the chase on a wild card...PHEWWWWW..that was a mouth full!

What they did WAS over the top, no matter if anyone wants to admit it or not...not to mention it had to be the worst thought out scenario I have ever witnessed in a race!

Was it a thought out scenario or a spur of the moment decision?
