I'll give it a 6. Nice feelgood ending, but the race itself was a snoozer as Indy usually is.

Not all that great of a race, though I'll say the middle was somewhat interesting. I'll give it a 6 as well.

Happy that NASCAR didn't throw any debris cautions.

I give it a 8. For being an open-wheel fan first and a NASCAR fan second, I don't know how you guys constantly grade lower than me. I guess I'm the easy teacher all the kids want.

Edit: 8 is too high. 7 is my final rating.

race: 3/10...was a snoozer...
winner 9/10: another one in the win column for SHR:D!

7. Decent race, more cautions actually make the race alot better.. The thing I noticed was on a green flag run, the field did not spread out as much like Nationwide did and their was 2 great cars instead of one.

6

Like racer8, I will also bump the rating up a point because of Newman winning at his home track.
Obviously, should go a long way torwards landing a ride next year. Good for him.

I guess the highlights for the race for me were the bonzai moves Tony made on a couple of restarts to pick off a few guys.
Lucky for him, 8 wheels are always better than 4.

Well, I took a nap in the middle of it, I guess that should tell you where I rate it. :p

5 zzzzzzz. Nationwide zzzzzzzz. Get these guys off that track.

I actually did fall asleep with about 40 to go. I watched the end after my nap. I can't rate this race higher than a 5.

I had to head to work with 50 to go, but for what I saw, I wouldn't give it more than a 5. Indy's just too big of a track. Never an exciting race.

reminded me a' votin last fall.
long single file line tha whole time.
but at least tha other guy didn't win this time ! ha!
3
repave apron by next yr. .....like before......maybe see sum passin.

I'd give a 5 to what part of it I could stay awake for. Maybe they should move this race to Vegas instead of the Charlotte fall race. Was happy to see Newman take the poll and victory away from JJ and Knauss.:)

You must of watched a different Indy race than I did I'll give it an 8, the new car made all the difference, usually I hate Indy but it was pretty good this year.

Unlike most, I agree with you.

I liked the long green flag runs as they made it somewhat of a strategy race, such as Newman taking only 2 tires on his last stop.

Also, although there wasn't much actual racing for the lead, ESPN did a better job than most at showing the racing for position back in the pack.

It was a great race. Newman and Johnson were basically chasing each other down the entire race.

7. There was some interesting strategy and drama that keep me glued to the race and leaderboard.
But the TV coverage was terrible. At one point they switched from showing 3 wide pack action to an onboard shot with no one on screen. They also missed tons of passing due to focusing on one single car.

I really think that (as much as folks claim to hate it) what they really want is the close side by side racing they see at Daytona and Talladega . They cannot comprehend the strung out racing that you get at a flat track where driving skill and strategy play a big part . While they don't show up that well on tv , tracks like Pocono , Indy , and New Hampshire are great , great racing.

Well, with a name like Toy-Yoda? that is by the way, the guy's name that owns that foreign car brand, what can ya expect. It was a Chevy Day. Top 4 and 7 out of top ten were Chevy's. :) Throw the Ford in there and 8 of the top ten were U.S. brands. Bad day at Blackrock for the Yotas. He's tough though, has to be.:)

That ain't it, because a Toyota won the NW race on Saturday and I thought that one was a dog too.

Hey, everybody made fun of that other Japanese car company at the other race at Indianapolis for 11 years and they ended up winning 9 straight.
