Bristol NCAA Football vs. Richmond NASCAR Race

Interesting to see Bruton's venue going head to head against an ISC event. I wonder how this is playing out @ NASCAR's headquarters? Probably a case of scotch involved I'd imagine.

A lot will depend on whether it is the ABC game or the ESPN game.

I believe that they said it is an ESPN game.

The other thing is attendance. Being reported that Richmond has a huge contingent of VT fans. They'd better get those remaining seats painted real quick. Richmond is liable to be a ghost town.

It's not as if night races haven't bumped up against ball games in the past. Heck, Sunday races compete with top-tier NFL games for the last quarter of the season.

The September Richmond race has been kind of anticlimactic since the new chase format was implemented anyway. The chase field is pretty much set by the time we get there now, unlike pre-2014 when there were usually still several chase berths on the line. I'll probably be watching the game.

Yeah in NASCAR vs Football, Football wins the viewership wars every damn time. It just so happens this game is at a race track and pulling from the same markets that would go to the regular race. Someone at ISC should have seen this coming.

Yep, someone gets it.

Even though the matchup isn't that great, the thought of a major college game being played in the infield of a track will generate a lot of interest, at least for the early part of the game. Buzz for the game in the Knoxville area is already starting to build.

Should end the season earlier anyways. No point in going against college football which is the biggest sport in the I-55 to I-95 corridor for months

Richmond should have moved the race to Sunday afternoon some years back as night racing is not what it used to be in terms of viewership.
