Bud Shootout Race Comments

Not bad choices 8, I have a bad feeling that Kennseth might be the man to beat this year....

That was a very good race. What a feeling to finally get to see them going at it again.

I was very encouraged to see Jeff Gordon run so well tonight. I figured Little E would pull it out because it was a plate "race". But I think he did a great job. Very nice building block. No shame in losing to the better car.

I wonder if Jr will ever move out of the media imposed shadow of his father.

It's time they stop with the "Winning for Daddy" storylines.

FOX and NBC need to drop the Daddy hype, it's been two years. Jr will be better for it.

Hey LilEazy...long time no see.

Fergy, I agree Kenseth was my pick last year to win...I was wrong.

I don't think I'll be wrong this year.

Either Kenseth or Busch.

I've been thinking the same thing for quite some time. Understanding that Dale Sr was some sort of diety for many people, it is just hard for some people to let it go.

Nope, you're always gonna hear....."Jr won at the track that his Dad won so many races at".

one of my predictions for the yr is that we'll see more of the same from Newman. I expect to see him quietly and consistantly finish in the top 5 & top 10 quite often.

Jr and Sr are 2 different people... they need to learn that...

I agree with Fergy... I don't think the media or fans will ever let Jr out from under that shadow. It's sad because the kid has talent and he deserves to make his own name.

What a race! That was a great last 5 laps. It was good to see Ken Schrader up there. Maybe the BAM car isn't as bad as everyone thought it to be. i hope for Ken's sake, he runs well this year. Jeff was a little on the edge, or should I say yellow line. He wasn't below, but was awfully close.

As to the comparison of Dale and Dale Jr......I agree, let the man rest in peace and let hs son be his own person. I fear, however, that the media and a large segment of the fans will never let that happen. That's a shame.

Great to see JR. win that. and really great to see Kenny run that good in the 49!!

Hey Paul. You're a swell guy, you always remember me. I dropped Lil E down to third on my list for the reason you commented on earlier. The media hypes up big poppa too much, sometimes I think he'll never get out of that shadow. That plus the sea of red I just saw a the track 2nite. I don't wanna look like a poser, which is always my first thought when I see those people; 15% real Fans, 86% Posers/ I'll look better in yellow and black anyway. (Even though I want that new Dale Jr. hat!)

btw, look closely at the driver in the 17 car Avatar <------It's Me! I'm such a poser!

Congratulations to Junior, and to Kenny Schrader for getting BAM its best finish ever. Hopefully he can come close to backing it up in the 500.

8LilEazy, don't let what other people like detract you from liking him too. Like who you like, but I imagine it might be tough to be a fan of his at times.

I know, I've tried to ignore the hype, but I'm just tired of it. I'll always be a fan of his, but I don't think he'll ever be my primary again. It's like Vin Diesel. I was a big fan of his after Saving Private Ryan & Pitch Black, but after he blew up it makes me sick to look at him. Same thing w/ Jr., 'cept I still want him to do well.

I don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist but the race kind of seemed like a movie. They focused on dale, and jeff for the begging of the race. Dale being the most popular (hero), jeff most people not likeing to much (villian). At the end who is battleing for the win, who else but them two. Dale showed some talent going through the trafic, but the race was pretty predictable, dale jr comes from last to first to win the first segment. Then he passes jeff at the end for the win. At no time do they focus on the previous winston cup champion.

I thought it was a pretty decent race atleast no one driver dominated the whole thing, and there was no wrecks. I thought it was a little weird when dale got in front he could pull away a little bit which the other leaders seemed to have a problem doing. Im not trying to say nascar is setup like WWE I just wonder sometimes. dale jr had the best car and came through at the end thats all there was to it, Congrats to jr.

I guess if I had to rate the race I would give it a 4, just not much of a RP track fan.

Looks like youv'e discovered Nascar's "secret" script. Id agree with you, that race did seem almost story like. But thats what Restrictor plate racing does to you. Pretty good race though, High marks from me...

What a run Kenny had :) I think Jimmie Johnson would have been more of a factor if he had not flat-spoted the tires coming into the pits. Tony caught the pack there at the end and then faded back again.
Congrats to Jr. and the Bud team.

The Chevy's fronts were buggy looking and the racing was... never be like it was a few years ago. At least they weren't racing in lines... the whole race.

Today was a big upset though. The #2 most-funded team beat the #1 most-funded team.....................

To tell you the truth i fell asleep watching that race. It was so predictable it wasn't even fun for me, i had a much better time watching the ARCA race earlier in the day. I just hope that the 500 isn't as predictable as this race was! <_<

I thought it was a great start to the season! Jr's dominance at a plate track did not surprise me, I would have been surprised had it ended any other way. Here's a few things that did surprise me.

1) In that 10 minute break they did not get the "push" that was plagueing Jarrett out of his car.
2) They NEVER mentioned Bill Elliott at all during the race, only for the starting line up. Never showed his car either.
3) 3 teams did not trust their pit crews enough to take on tires during the last pit stop!
4) Ricky Craven was having a ball out there and did not cause a wreck!
5) FOX seemed ill prepared especially in the Audio department.
6) Darrell is still saying "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity" and the announcer even encouraged him to say it!

It was just another pre-scripted Chevrolet Commercial. The only thing that had the Nascar directors worried was when Kurt led the most laps.

I am sure he has already been reprimanded for taking up a little to much of Jr and Gordon's tv time! -_- -_-

The real season starts after Daytona....someone wake me up then!

Those who thought that the DEI plate track dominance was over because of the new Monte better wake up. It'll be more of the same in the 125s and the 500.

I thought DEI would still have a handle on the plate tracks.

I remember the 'Who will win the Daytona 500' threads here in the off-season. A lot of people said that DEI would be adversely affected with the common templates/new Monte. Hey, until DEI gets smoked on raceday, they're the kings of plate racing.

And until they start to care about the rest of the races, other drivers will be the kings of the series. And get trophies.

Some pit photos... (that was nutz)

I was wondering when they were goning to wreck. They were driving like idiots at times.

-_- -_- -_-

At least it didn't pay any points.

There were a few surprises that I noticed, but nothing earth-shattering.

1. Ol' Ward running up top and quietly doing pretty well.

2. Kurt Busch remains for real.

3. DJ was a non-factor. Maybe he read "The David Pearson Story" in the off-season.

4. Schrader. 'Nuff said. Been a long time.

5. Junior not needing to draft...again. Oh well, it's just 4 races a year.

All in all it was good to have them back. Even if it was just a plate "race".

Maybe for the whole season you mean, but as far as RP tracks go the #1 funded team beat the #2 funded team.

Im not trying to defend hendricks, even though I am a little biased in the situation. I think all the top teams pretty much put the same amount of money in there cars, thats why they win most of the races. Roush, hendricks, dei, penske etc etc

I thought it was a sad race though I cant wait until the real season begins after daytona.

I agree Paul. But I wonder if Roush will suffer their same post good season fate?..you know, great one season, not so great the next? I hope not, but that is what history tells.

I doubt it, Biffle, Busch, Kenseth. I like their chances.

DEI just don't need to worry about any other races, they're raking in the millions doing exactly what they're doing. More power to em.

I say Busch will be the toughest one from the Roush Camp...

Actually Jeff Gordon led the most(31)laps,Kurt Busch led 11 laps & Dale Jr. led 16 laps.
If U were talking about thru the 1st segment(20 laps)only, then just disregard this post! I've been mistaken before,LOL!
