Can we finally ditch the term "podium finish"?

The term podium finish has been used in F1 for years and has been in IndyCar too. Some writers, including Matt Weaver, have been using it in NASCAR and other forms of racing. After they used an actual podium last night, can we just ditch the term from racing except F1? The second and third place finishers are rarely glad to take part in it.

I like it! Good to see a Toyota driver on the top step, and kinda fun to see Laurel and Hardy on the lower ones.

Podium is a term in short track racing because, outside of CARS Tour and Late Model majors, the top 3 all get interviewed and get trophies.

Participation trophies.

One night, after a Modified race at Southern National, I took Burt Myers his second-place trophy. He says to me, "man get that participation trophy away from me." During pics, he said he didn't want his picture taken with that participation trophy.

I became a Burt Myers fan that day.

I was broken hearted with no lighting the torch ceremonies.
I am still mad as Hell about it and I aint letting it go. There are just some offenses that you will never forget and this aint over, somehow someway I am gonna make them sumbiches pay for it.

They are just getting started. Next year the California people will be inaugurating Caitlyn Marie Jenner as the 13th Olympic Goddess during the metal ceremonies and they will EPSY up the whole metal presentation at ths race as well with the TinkerBells chiming away in the background.

It will mainstream Nascar and make us a part of the beast. Everybody will finally love Nascar and be wanting a piece of Nascar, but it will be a heavy price to pay.

Yesterday was the first time I heard commentators mention podium positions in a NASCAR event but as others have alluded to I think it's just a tribute to the race taking place in an Olympic Stadium.
Usually NASCAR doesn't have actual podium ceremonies like most other racing series in the world. In US Motorsports it's mostly a winner takes it all mentality, second place is the first loser.

The illuminati wiped out about three of mine. We got to close to the truth
Nah, I think my post verged on political content. I'm a bit surprised the whole post is gone instead of the one potentially inflammatory sentence. No big deal.

I agree and I have just been clowning around with the conspiracies.
Some political overtones but it was all about being silly for me in this thread.
Nothing more.

I don't think anyone took a thing I said seriously in this thread no one should be that naive.
