Carl Edwards vs. Matt Kennseth. Post race scuffle

I know Dale Jarrett doesn't care for Matt, I know Jeff Gordon doesn't care for Matt. Could this be the end of every one thinking Matt is such a good guy? Hmmmmm

That was kinda odd, and the fact that he did it right in front of a camera... The grin after almost makes ya think they were screwing around but if they were saying not so nice things about each well they must not have been.

I never have thought that, on the track anyway. I still remember when he and Tony Stewart were running Busch and Stewart was about to win the race, but Kenseth moved him coming off turn 4 to win the race. He's hit plenty of drivers, he doesn't get called out for it like others are.

Well the boys on INC tonight piled on Cousin Carl. Greg Biffle his other teammate sided with Kenseth. The whole thing started when the field jumbled up behind Sorenson on a restart. Carl swerved to avoid the mess and dove to the inside. To me it looked like he took the corner at the wrong angle which caused him to wash up into Matt Kenseth through the center of the corner. Evidence of this that lead me to believed it happened this way was the in car shot that showed Jamie McMurray slid up the center of the track as well. Down the back stretch Kenseth popped Carl pretty good as you could tell from the jolt on the in car camera sending Carl towards the outside wall.

I know this board is predominately pro Gordon and anti Roush, but really - who gives a **** what Gordon thinks and I don't imagine Kenseth is losing any sleep over Gordon not liking him.

Take you helmet OFF if you're going to be throwing your weight around.

As for Kenseth being a " good guy", I think actions speak louder than words.

All them backflips....Carl does what you expect.....

:D :D :D :D

done slapped his braincell around one to many times

during them backflips...
:bounce: :bounce:

What's Gordon got to do with any of this. It's your Ford boys fighting amoung themselves.

This discussion is (or was ) about Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth but it is obvious the poster does care what Jeff Gordon thinks (or what they think of Gordon) otherwise JGordon' name would not have been mentioned.

No matter how hard some try to pee on Jeff Gordon or his fans, they always seem to be the ones who bring his name into topics where Gordon was not involved. Why is that ??

Highlights are my own.

UPDATE: Owner Jack Roush has talked to both drivers with a simple message. "He told them they've got to settle this without wrecking our cars," team president Geoff Smith said on Tuesday. "He told them to get yourself at peace with one another, then go compete against one another as hard as you want to compete." Smith said neither driver would be punished by the organization, noting that Roush has a policy that teammates are allowed to compete against each other as though they are not teammates. Smith doesn't believe Edwards intended to hit Kenseth.(ESPN.com)(10-23-2007)
AND: Carl Edwards apologized Tuesday for his actions following Sunday's race at Martinsville Speedway, saying he was wrong to show his anger toward Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth. Edwards said on a NASCAR teleconference that trouble has been brewing between the pair for a while and that it's probably been six months since they've had a conversation. Now, he wants to change all of that. Edwards is hoping that he and his Roush Fenway teammates can do a better job of having a "team spirit," and he says he plans to do his best to communicate better not only with Kenseth, but with all his Roush Fenway teammates. Edwards took full blame for his actions, pledged to get to know his teammates better and analyzed what could have brought on this type of display. He added that he would take the first step toward mending fences.(SceneDaily.com)(10-23-2007)

ROFLMAO!! Geeze, Carl's been getting ripped on all over the internet. I think he should have punched Matt for real. :owquitit: From what I hear, THAT would have been old Nascar. ;)

Eh, it adds some character to Carl. Some spice. He's not plain vanilla anymore, like Matty. Sometimes you have to let your displeasure known and afterall less happened here than between Harvick and JPM. So what's the big deal...

Didn't Tony Stewart say Cousin Carl is like the Eddie Haskell of NASCAR?

Anywhoo, I say let Carl Edwards hit him. Maybe he'll pop some of the pimples on Matt's face in the process.

By Nate Ryan, USA TODAY
After colliding twice midway through Sunday's Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards seemed to put the incident behind them with a chat over their in-car radios.
Kenseth, though, wasn't very surprised when Edwards accosted him shortly after the race.

"His behavior has been real erratic lately, honestly," Kenseth said of his Roush Fenway Racing teammate. "You don't know what to expect with him. That's the thing that's a little bit troublesome. One minute, he has so much respect for you, and he's real friendly and everything's so much fun. The next minute he wants to kick your butt and he's swearing at you. It's a little scary. You never know what you're going to get.

"I thought it was good in a way that the cameras were there because a lot of us see that, and nobody else does because he kind of puts on a different front."

I didn't bring Gordon's name into the discussion.

I was responding to a statement that Gordon doesn't like Kenseth.

Here ya go, Patrick. Use Matt fans have to stick together on a HMS board. LOL :D ;)

I think this is the only board where I've seen support for Carl. They've been ripping him to shreds on other message boards. The Tony Stewart comment about him being a little Eddie Haskel has been said that Carl puts on a far different nice-guy face for the public and he's not so nice in reality. Eh... I still like the guy. Matt doesn't impress me much.

How many other drivers give their trophies away to disabled children and charities? It doesn't look like an act. He seems to be a really nice guy. We may not know the entire story of what pushed him over the edge. I'm not saying Matt was at fault. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Factis, nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes, except for the drivers, themselves. That being said, this may be one of the dumbest posts in months...

Carl responded in a nice way from what I read in the papers today. He said that he and Matt have never been close and that Matt has never offered any conversations on his own and so one can see that they are not really tied together except that they are teammates. And that is something that Carl thinks all of his teammates should work on, and that is communications between all of them. Carl said that when he wins a race, he gets all kinds of calls to congratulate him on the win, but those calls come from guys like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson etc. He never gets a pat on the back from any of this teammates. I don't understand that at all, but so it goes.

I know how this can lead to something that boils over as it's happened to me a few times. The ice needs to be broken and after that, even if the two don't care for each other, the relationship is on a plane that both understand. This whole thing could lead to a great friendship between the two of them. But it might not either, but one thing I do believe will be accomplished and that is that the two of them now have a better understanding of one another.

I think that not everyone on a team needs to gets along. Some teams sugarcoat everything and put on a nice show but certainly two/three guys don't have to be buddy-buddy to win races.

Now I'm a Kenseth fan - obviously - but it does seem to me that he's had a stick in it since McMurray joined Roush and he publicly said he wasn't consulted.

If he should've been is a matter between him and his boss, IMO, but Edwards is most likely on the wrong team if he's looking for the "one big happy family" atmophere.

Either way, Kenseth has made statements that I don't think he can back peddle on so he'll have to be prepared for some fallout as the vultures are obviously gathering.
