•Gibbs courting Edwards? am hearing that Carl Edwards, currently the driver of the #99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, is being courted by Joe Gibbs Racing to take over the #20 Home Depot Toyota ride. Where would that leave current #20 driver, Joey Logano, to the long rumored 4th Joe Gibbs car, no word on who would be the sponsor, if it happens.(6-17-2011)
 
If they do go 4, I am sure GameStop would be the sponsor. I really dont expect Edwards to leave RFR though.
 
That would be a surprise. I thought Edwards, would carry the flag for Roush the rest of his career. Like Andy said, I would be surprised to see Joey at Gibbs at all.
 
He'll be back at Waterford and Stafford driving a Legends car,,,if he's lucky.:rolleyes:
 
If he does, he can join the list of hated drivers.. lol
 
Hone Depot deserves a real DrIvER.. NOt a Logano type!! Carl will be pricey, but he's worth it...

Here is what bif said just after he re-signed....

The new deals are likely for less money than those in the past. Biffle said in February he was anticipating a pay cut and confirmed Sunday that he had signed for less money. Biffle said his deal isn’t laden with incentives except for wins, making the Chase and winning the championship.
 
If Cousin Carl does jump ship It'll at least be good to see someone with some stones behind the wheel of the 20 car again.
 
I just got a phone call from a very reliable source.... Look for Kyle Petty to drive the number 20 car next year and Ray Evernham will be his crew chief. And, Zippy will be hooked back up with Smoke. :beerbang:

I'm not a fan of Carl but at least he doesn't have his father fighting his battles for him like Logano does.

I'm betting that Jack throws all the money Carl wants his way just to keep him.
 
I dunno, Carl is having a very impressive run right now, if he can actually win the Championship this year, I don't really see him jumping ship, unless someone can really offer him a better package than what Roush Fenway Racing has.

This could be Carl's way of making sure he don't get a cut in pay like Biffle did. Let Jack think he might go somewhere else, but I don't think he will.
 
My understanding is that Jack's contracts include lots of the souvenir money going to him. That was one of the biggest reasons Kurt bailed. So if money is an issue, there may be better options than RFR.

My thought is that this is all Carl playing the game and he's not going anywhere.

The Biff likely stayed with RFR and took a pay cut because nothing else was being offered.
 
Jr makes 30+ Million a year.. Betting Biff makes atleast 7 Mil a year.. Biff Wins every year..
 
Maybe Joey will leave JGR. Here we are both sizing up the new FR9 engine at Pocono last week!!

Not hate, he just hasn't shown a damn thing that everyone was all in a twitch about before cup. He's a dud. He's one of those guys that will tear up Nationwide and can't go any further.

I don't know if he'll do great or not. But he's going into just his 3rd year with 1 win, 11 top 5's and 25 top 10's. Maybe that's not as good as some did by their 3rd year, but it's better than others did.

lots of Roush fans loved Kurt when he was there. I actually feel kinda bad for Joey if Gibbs does dump him. Like JustMe said, he hasn't really been that bad, I am sure someone will pick him up. He does have talent, maybe Zippi wants to win again and that's a reason for finding another guy in the 20. Maybe Gibbs does go four cars, and puts Joey there, which I wouldn't like. He would get the leftover garbage after Hamlin,Busch and Carl.
 
Joey is a classic case of a driver that moved to Cup way too soon. The move to get these guys to Cup by the time they are 20 is insane. They're still kids. They need more time to get used to living in the NASCAR world and actually win something (i.e. David Ragan).

Oh please go smoke some more tires....Logano is a decent driver he showed that coming up throught the ranks as quickly as he did, get him with the right crew chief combination and the kid will be fine. Zippy isn't the right guy for him.
