They are making turn 16 almost a 90 degree corner right before the start finish line. Yikes! They also added a straight between 4 and 5 which is gonna make it super fast by the time they get to the hairpin in 7.

Get rid of 15-17! It would flow so well without this and you could have awesome races to the line off the oval just like at Daytona

That is a killer passing zone under breaking. Squaring it off is going to make that area popular for passing under hard braking and a really good place to be close too when up in the stands I bet.

As I said in the 'Random' discussion,
I withhold opinions until I see how it races. I assume Charlotte has already had someone test this. If it reeks, they can always return to the previous circuit.

I did think the old turns 6, 7, and 8 made for good racing. 6 was a semi-blind leftie that crested a knoll in the infield most of us didn't know was there until the drivers went up it. Coming off 7 was where drivers set up their passes for the left-hand back onto the oval. There were a lot of great passes made there. And the front chicane made its reputation with the first race and hasn't lost anything since.

So I'll see how this layout does in October. I haven't missed a Charlotte Roval yet.

That frontstretch chicane, especially on this new layout, is frustrating because this is an elimination race and you just know playoff positions are gonna come down to shenanigans.

You’ll see tons of passing if the track flows better. Turn 1 would be insane as well as off of T4 on the oval

“Two distinct braking zones are going to really help the competition and provide great overtaking opportunities,” said Marcus Smith, the President and CEO of Speedway Motorsports. “One of the biggest things we’ve heard is about off-throttle time in oval racing. In road-course racing, you want as much of an opportunity as possible for a driver to play with the brake pedal, the gas pedal and the steering wheel.

“That’s what a well-designed track is going to provide — those overtaking opportunities — and that’s what we’ve done today.”

Roval is badass. Keep it. It's so unique not just to NASCAR but in motorsports... Daytona 24 is the only course I know of that's a high speed oval/road course hybrid.

There are others but they're usually used by sports car clubs or motorcycles. The Charlotte infield circuit was in place for years before NASCAR used it. I recall Texas, Vegas, and Kansas have them.

If they add Montreal in 2026 they should go back to the Charlotte oval. 6 road courses is the perfect number. 7 is too many.

I’d rather see 4 road races and 2 rovals and less boring 1.5 miles (not all are but some need help )

I don’t mind it , but with how well this car races on the 1.5 mile tracks makes me missed the fall charlotte oval race.
