Last year, just for the Chase races, I started a little game that anyone could join in on. We seem to get quite a few new members each year that don't get a good chance to participate in the year long fantasy pick games that we have on here. I'll be starting this game again the day after the Chase drivers have been officially announced. I just wanted to give all that would like to play this year a little heads up.

==============

How it works.....

You'll pick two Chase drivers each week.

Pick the Chase driver that you think will finish the best for the given week.

Pick the Chase driver that you think will finish the worst for the given week.

The highest score at the end of the Chase is the winner.

Scoring is based on NASCAR's point system.

Your pick for the best driver will simply receive the points awarded by NASCAR.

Your pick for the worst driver will receive the difference in points between the winner of the race and your picks actual race points.

==============

Last years form players looked a little like a Chase lineup itself. We only had 13 forum members participate. I'd like to see more if possible. There are a lot of you out there. If you have questions about how to play or are confused by any of this, post here or PM me and I'll answer.

Anyone interested in playing this season?

Perhaps finishing 11th was too traumatic. ;)

It was a fun game, dpk. Don't leave use hanging like that Spikey fellow does.

Repressed, I suspect. You'll be in a much better position to let us know after the Big Dawgs final results are posted ;)

Come on. That's the beauty of Spike's game. You never know when the thread is going to start. The randomness is what makes it a fair game. Sometimes we wait until qualifying day for the weekends race and other times, like last week, the game starts just after the checkered flag on the prior race.

I plan on opening the new weeks thread Monday mornings like last year giving everyone almost a full week to get their picks in. The results of the previous week will be posted in that thread as well.

Good Deal! I was wondering if you'd do it again this year.

What ever became of the protest on Smoke anyway? Was'nt there talk of a 40 point penalty?

He hired the team of lawyers from Hendrick Motorsports and won his appeal. :mad:

Sounds like fun, I'm in.
One question I have is about driver picks. If I chose say JJ and JR. one week, and someone chose the same two drivers or one of the two is that OK?

But what about that bribe......ugh, Charity Donation check I mailed you, It cleared the bank?
It went to my favorite charity, The Anheuser-Bush Foundation. Of course I had to route it through my local beer err charity fund distributor.

Glad to have you aboard. Yes, two people can make the same picks. It's not a big deal. The points will take care of themselves. If you want to pick Jimmie Johnson as the best finisher each week, that's OK too. I don't think the results will end up being what you'd expect but you are free to do that.

I'll post all of the rules, as limited as they are, with the first weeks Chase for the CUP 2012 Game thread.

It's a very simple game. You will make two picks. The Chase driver that you think will finish the best and the Chase driver that you think will finish the worst for a given weeks race. That's it. Two picks. Best/worst.

Some like to employ the reverse psychology method to their picks. I notice that quite often with the BOLD Prediction thread. Stewart Fan does this. He always picks Stewart not to make the Chase. He's not fooling anyone about his true intentions.

I know I have a hard time picking my driver to do well any given week. Somehow I feel solely responsible if something then goes wrong.

Clutch will be okay this year DP I'll probably hold down my favorite spot, dead last. :cool:
I'm in.

I'd like to try it out. But how does it score if your bottom pick beats your top pick?
I'll use last weeks race @ Bristol as an example. Let's say you picked Clint Bowyer as your best finisher amoung the Chase drivers and Jimmie Johnson as the worst. Clint Bowyer would have earned 37 points for finishing 7th last week. Jimmie Johnson finished 2nd and would have earned 4 points. 4 points is the difference between the maximum points that could be earned less the 43 points that he actually earned according to NASCAR. Your total for the week would have been 41 points for the Bristol week. Clear as mud, right?

You really don't have to do a lot of thinking in this game. You simply want to pick the Chase driver that will finish best and the Chase driver that will finish the worst in order to gain the maximum points. Let me worry about the math.

C'mon on DP......who would've ever picked Clint over JJ!!!:D I'm looking forward to playing, sounds fun to me.

There's so much I could say, I'm having trouble deciding.

Just a reminder for any interested forum members out there that I'll be starting this game next Sunday. I hope to see a bunch of you play.
