All sports evolve. I read some trivial about how football once had 3 plays to get 5 yards for a first down; in baseball they didn't call balls & strikes - the batter swung until the ball was put in play; in basketball once a player left the game he couldn't go back in. In NASCAR the race cars had to be factory built (and the art of modifications started the rule book).
