Things to watch:

- Jimmie Johnson has been very competitive at the Flat Tracks, sweeping both Loudon races this year. He starts 3rd and another victory could be in the 48 team's grasp.

- Kevin Harvick won the truck race and finished 2nd in the Busch Series race. He starts 13th and on the flat tracks, the 29 team has performed pretty well. Will he retake 2nd place in the point standings?

- Can Jeff Gordon make it three victories in a row? The 24 team is on a hot streak and is only a few points out of second place.

- Dale Earnhardt Jr. led a portion of the 2002 Phoenix race until a costly mistake on fuel bit him. The 8 team has been very good on the flat tracks this year, will they outgun the competition this time around?

- Matt Kenseth, the Championship leader and 2002 Winston Cup Phoenix Race winner. Can he make it 2 in a row at Phoenix and clinch the championship?

- Ryan Newman, starts on the pole, his hopes to go further in the points took a hit when he had an accident in the late laps of the Atlanta race. Can he recover and try and make it 9 wins this season? Ryan starts where he usually does, 1st, can he finish where he usually does this season, 1st?

glad to see ya back happy, don't let those certain know it all's get ya down

Only an elite few have beniffitted from the lucky dog rule

Sorry, my 11 year-old got on the computer and posted the lucky dog stuff while I wasn't looking.

Another thing to watch for Happy, is Tony and his streak of top 5 finishes.

did DJ bump casey mears out of the way? sure was close

jr. is havin some crappy pitstops to lose a few spots every caution

Why in the world did Harvick make that pit. It cost him dearly.

Poor old Ward. New car and new team and still cant get a break.

Back to green after Mongo wrecked, and Ward was caught in the oil spill

looks like ol' happy harvick and gordo will be visting the big red truck

looked like jeffs move was good (aggressive but good) and just ticked kevin off....

just don't need to be buming AFTER the yellow...

So a couple guys took two...with 100 to go...

smart or not!???

I think so...get in front maybe get lucky on another yellow...

just get in front.

Getting up front is one thing staying there is another. Harvick hasn't had to good of luck staying up front.

The boy is doing pretty good no doubt, hopefully, he holds off the rest of the field !

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won the Checker Auto Parts 500 !!!!!!!!!!! :)

Cograts to Jr. DJ was running 8th with 9 laps to go and cut down a right front tire.

Congrats Dale, and Mickey. Way to go DEI!

It was a quick Sh!t, he won't get fined.

Double Standard eh? Because it was in celebration and not frustration I guess that makes it ok.

Victory was long overdue, DEI should have more flat track victories this year, ah, but whats done is done.

Congrats again to Dale Earnhardt Jr.

WOW!!! Congrats Jr. on your first NON restrictor plate victory since '91.

Big deal so he said the S word , watch the new show "Playmakers" on ESPN and you will hear that all the time......doubt he will get a fine for it. If it was the F word yeh i can a see a fine.

I think nascar is taking itselft way to serious with the cursing thing. On today's tv it's running rampid. I'm not saying it's right, becouse I'm shocked by how much there is. I do think they need to relax a little, this is a highly charged sport at times and emotions will get the best of you.

I agree if anyone dropped the f-bomb that should be a fine!

Aye but G.D. on late evening cable T.V. warrants a fine right?
