A little chilly, light rain at track. Will be in upper 60s for race. Natl Weather Service says 40% chance rain in afternoon. The radar shows this rain cell moving fast and as long as nothing builds behind it, should be gone within an hour. Let's hope Mother Nature doesn't take this first race of the Chase today.

NASCAR has accelerated today's schedule and the Geico 400 will take the green flag at 2:03 p.m. ET instead of 2:16 p.m. ET.

The weather channel has upgraded the rain to 70%. There's a big storm behind the little crap that is there now. It could turn north, I hope it does. Because tonights weather looks even rainier.

I live dead west of the track and its been raining here since 6 am. headed right towards the track.

There will be a competition caution on lap 30 today because of the rain washing all the rubber off the track.

That 13 minutes should make a world of difference.

They have sold thousands of race tickets with the race start time printed on them not to mention the tv deal, they can't change that. All they can do is pull the pre-race activity's forward.

Hummm. I remember going to a Brewer game and missing it because they changed the time from 3 pm to noon the day before. Read the fine print on the tickets, i'm sure it's on there.

Somehow I don't think that the television networks would drop their schedule to pick up the race earlier. ESPN sure as heck would not have dropped their NCAA football broadcasts to throw on NASCAR.

Doesn't much matter, because it looks pretty wet there right now. They probably won't even start ontime.

NASCAR should move all their races to Texas for the remainder of the season, that would set their rainfall deficit problem straight.

If I had my super duper sophisticated electron microscope with me maybe I could......Damn there's some tiny ass print on these tickets.

Not enough water to flush the toilets in Texas :(

Seriousley Texas is really getting hit hard with drought I have alot of freinds out there whose business's are struggling due to it.

Just looked at the radar for there. A lot of green out West.:(

So..... Mother Nature qualified for the Chase as a wildcard with her wins @ Watkins Glen and Atlanta. It looks like she's trying to take the lead in this Chase with a win @ Chicagoland.

I was at Chicago the past four years for NASCAR Weekend when the races were in July. My first year, 2007, it was miserable - hot and humid with no breeze. Just nasty. The next year they moved the races to Friday and Saturday night and they were both spectacular.

This is from the 2008 Nationwide Race:

They can start the race anytime. It's fine by me - as long as they start the race.

Just talked to my buddy down in Houston and even they have been getting rain all night LOL. God don't want this race to happen anywhere today. That or the NFL built a rain machine to squash the competition LOL.

I wonder if NASCAR has ever considered running the whole 'Cup schedule West of the Rockies, where it doesn't rain all Summer long.

:sarcasm:

Damn Paul Menard made it rain today because Harvick wasn't ready to race yet:mad::D

Everyone knows that Daddy Menard is a billionaire and can bribe anyone he wants. NASCAR looked into it, but neither God nor Menard were willing to confess, so the case is closed.

I do find it suspicous that Paul keeps heading out in his rental car and wrecking the jet dryers, but that's not proof of intent to affect the race.

This is going to be a long wait and see. Hopefully for all the folks out at the race they can get it in sometime tonight. Do you think the race will get bumped to a different channel for mlb baseball if this turns into a night race?

That there is funny, the NFL doesn't worry about Nascar in the least.;)
