C Bell made his ARCA debut at Salem today, a tough racetrack. Started 2nd led 92 laps and got the win. He's yet another great young talent Toyota has under its wings to go with Erik Jones, Suarez, and William Byron. The other manufacturers need to start investing like Toyota does on driver development to get on their level

I thought this was gonna be a thread about a driver, not ANOTHER "Toyota is the best" thread.

You would be surprised in what other teams are doing. William Byron, for insurance, was with JR Motorsports.

....and there are so many of those. Lee Spencer has expressed this same opinion repeatedly. Might be something to what @DaBiff1618 is saying. David Wilson has addressed this topic as well expressing Toyota's willingness to retain talent. Fact....other manufacturers are not so intentional.

Well like it or not their deep farm system and driver development program is a key part of their success

That said, C Bell is a flat out wheelman, he'll be in a cup ride soon enough

You guys have had a serious

But this ISN'T a thread about Christopher Bell. Which is all I said. It's a bait thread.

And I find it funny... the Kyle fans got pissed off when I said the indisputable fact that Toyota is far and away superior than the other manufacturers in every way is a large part of why Kyle won the championship and why the Toyota teams are winning every week in every series. The responses I got are that it's because Kyle is some sort of God and everyone else sucks.

So which is it? Toyota is the best manufacturer because their cars and engines are superior and they have a better farm system one Kyle is a god?

Every manufacturer is involved in finding young talent. RCR has a development program and is involved in dirt and asphalt Late Model racing. JR Motorsports is involved in Late Model Stock Car and Super Late Model racing.

Y'all are forgetting I'm the one writing about these guys before they even make a K&N start.

Only reason we aren't seeing more move up to Cup is because Cup is some sort of lifers club where Kasey Kahne, Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex hang around forever without producing the results they are capable of. And it becomes hard for drivers to stand out in XFINITY and Truck because Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski like to run every race.

That should have been OR not ONE.

I hate Android. Easily the worst autocorrect system, worst keyboard and worst touchscreen of the three mobile platforms.
You're making me post your childhood photo again, aren't you @AndyMarquisLive? ;)

Except Kyle couldn't win in XFINITY with his own team, so he ran back to Gibbs.

I think Kyle is the best driver right now and will go down as one of the greatest in history, but it doesn't change the fact that he has the best car. .

Kyle fans act like he caught up to everyone else and won the championship last year without the points being reset four times and that he did all this in start and park garbage.

He won Homestead because he had the best car there. And he was always going to win the championship. I knew he would when he came back, said it a hundred times. Having to make the top 35 wasn't as big a challenge as the media made it out to be.

While the rehab is tough and all, getting to miss 11 races is a competitive advantage. If an NFL team only had to play 12 games and got a playoff berth after only winning six games, they would have a huge advantage as well.

People aren't hating the player, they're hating the game. I'm pissed Tony got a waiver. At least Kyle's incident took place on the track, which was literally the only reason people defended it. The way NASCAR handles the Chase, which is a great concept with playoff eliminations, has taken away all legitimacy to the process.

The sharp decline in attendance this year, which is worse than I've ever seen, and the sharp decline in ratings says it all.

In this part of the season, I believe the racing is better however, no sense shutting the barn doors if there are no horses inside unless your saving hay.

I don't think Rick Hendrick himself is interested any longer.

Oh no, the Chase is definitely the main culprit. The three elimination races and the restart after the 10 to go debris caution at Homestead are the only races that matter now.

What we have now, Brian likes. Sooner or later he will realize he can't force this down peoples throat. The fans ultimately will support what they want to see.

I believe the local track racing is where it is at now. Problem is we don't have any up here above the 49th parallel. :(

I went to Daytona twice at $3000 a pop in the early 90's.

Never crossed the border since.

Please don't confuse the toyota fan base with logic. They're happy with their delusional existence.
When the toyota dog and pony show fails, they will cry foul and call it a mass conspiracy.

Well since his father is the GM at SHR, I would think he would drive a Ford next year.
Yeah I had forgotten about the manufacturer swap until I thought about it for a second.

He's driving for JRM in 5 Xfinity races this year so maybe something happens there. We'll see but I hope he stays Chevy.

Yes. :punkrocke Don't really think that you can quantify it. In my mind, Kyle is getting the tools he needs to do the job. This is what TRD (and JGR) are responsible for. Once he takes the reigns to the chariot, it's his deal. These cars aren't winning because Toyota is out-horspowering everybody by 25 hp or anything. Good engines, good cars, good drivers....execution. Good stuff.

Chris Bell is the property of Toyota. I don't see this as a bait thread. Manufacturers really haven't been wrapping drivers up the way they used to because of NASCAR's emphasis on the driver rather than the manufacturer. Think the point was that Bell is a big talent, and he is among many big talents Toyota has been intentional about securing in the wake of the Kyle Larson departure. Cris Bell is the thread, and Toyota is one of the contexts for the thread IMO.

Taco is Jack Roush?

Toyota is creating its on demise, just look at the problems in its motherland.

Not to the extent of Toyota. Which was my point. It's not a bait thread so no need to be butthurt, and you don't need to be a writer to pay attention to the lower series, but kudos to you for covering them. Toyota forks the bill on some of its developmental drivers whereas RCR mainly has ride buyers. Jones drove a truck sponsored by Toyota last season. I said Toyota is dominating because the cars are great (no duh they have to be fast to win its not the 1990s) but they also have invested a ton of money and effort into building a deep farm system and have a great driver lineup. Hendrick hasn't been interested in driver development with the exception of chase Elliott and the only other organization that develops guys and spends their own money is Roush Racing.

Penske doesn't even have Ryan Blaney in one of their cars, he's driving they pawned him off to the mediocre Wood Brothers team. And never once let him race for a championship in the 22

And Kevin Harvick won in 2014 when Gordon led all year. He also has the best cars in the field. Your point? Nobody gets butthurt over Kyle I drew the line when you tried to say captain bridesmaid was a better driver. Which is straight jacket laughable

It's funny, this is a legitimate thread about driver development, something integral to the health of the series, but people still get butthurt because it has the name Toyota in it

Toyota has recently put a lot of effort into TD2 (Toyota Driver Development), in terms of its branding and structure (how do they create a TRUE farm system, with obvious promotion structure and timelines etc) as well as seeking sponsorship of TD2. The other manufacturers have not done that to this level. That's not my opinion, it's a fact. Doesn't mean the other manufacturers aren't going to let Toyota do all the work, and then throw a bunch of money at the talent once they're fully groomed (like the NY Yankees typically do). But...if this discussion is simply about "farm system" TRD is miles ahead.

I've done a lot of work with Bell recently, spent a lot of time with him, and we've gotten pretty close. He's a REALLY good kid, almost to the point that I worry about people trying to take advantage of him.

Why the personal attacks?

That's an unusual question from someone who said:
