I'm not sure why Fox always feels the need to F with the ticker. A simple horizontal scroll at the top of the screen works best.

I agree! I thought it was was just for a the ARCA race. Not a fan. I know change is hard to adapt to sometimes but humans naturally read left to right. All sports graphics have either been on the top or bottom of the screen since I can remember, 30 years or so...

It was bad during the ARCA race as well. The only time you could really see what was going on in that race was during the replays.

It's not the left to right (which incidentally isn't natural in either direction, it's a cultural practice / learned behavior).

A televised race track is basically a horizontal object. By putting a ticker on the side, they cut off part of that horizontal view. There's more space available at the top without blocking the view.

Probably a bunch of turnover in the production staff and the new guys have to relearn the same old lessons.
