Sour Grapes? Kyle Busch takes dig at Dale Jr.: #18-Kyle Busch said it point-blank: "It's never Junior; it's always the crew chief." Busch fired that opening volley of driver reaction Friday morning to Hendrick Motorsports' dismissal of Tony Eury Jr. as #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s crew chief on Thursday. Asked about Eury's replacement, Lance McGrew, with whom Busch worked in the Nationwide Series at Hendrick in 2004, Busch expressed pity for McGrew. "He's got his hands full, I guess, having to deal with what's going on," Busch said. "And if Junior doesn't run well, then he [McGrew] is going to be the 'problem' again." Still, Busch said he understood the move to bolster the driver who replaced him at Hendrick last season, both because of Earnhardt's star power and Busch's salary issues. "You've got to make the most popular driver in the sport competitive, so you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess," Busch said.(ESPN)(5-29-2009)

nascar is probably loving it. nothing wrong with driver rivalries. makes for better fan participation. will kyle really notice more boos?
 
Well, he could have actually said a LOT more and really rubbed Hendricks nose in after being "Let Go" in favor of E Jr.

......No matter the expression on his face .....Klye has to be smiling on the inside!..........He and JGR are reaping the benefits of being let go.........and the 88 is a shambles
 
So explain to me what the purpose of walking up to Kyle Busch with a mic and camara if it isn't to get him going with the intent and hope of getting just exactly the kind of statement they got?

IMHO the real class acts was #1 Bob Dillner was going to find Kyle to ask the question to start with, and then #2 Steve Burns to jump up on his high horse and say "I don't know why he thought he had to comment about Jr anyway. Well DUH! why did your reporter go and ask him?
 
Good stuff!!! A little off the tack drama. Want to get ratings back, let's keep asking stupid questions so we get good replies and keep the rivaly growing. I am not a Kyle fan, but I like his attitude.

NASCAR's needed someone like Kyle for a long time. Now they've got him, and everyone hates him.
 
We got a driver at Potomac who is just like Wild Thing. Kyle Lear -- and they hate him just as much as they hate that other Kyle. Lear races 2 classes. Fans boo at him and throw beer cans at him, and he does a pompous bow or thanks the fans for coming out -- pisses 'em off even more. :beerbang:

Tony Sr. 2 Nationwide series championships, 15 Cup wins including Daytona 500, Top 5 finish in final cup standings in 5 seasons

Tony Jr 2 cup wins

Steve Hmiel 1 cup win in a handful of races

Tony Gibson 3 top 5s in 6 races while subbing for Tony Jr's wing mounting error

Pete Rondeau is not even worth mentioning. Taking Eury Jr off the box and putting Rondeau up there would be like replacing Shaggy with Scooby. I eman, c'mon. The idea is to improve. When Gibson took over, Jr was 14th in points (actually 12th, but the 100 point penalty dropped him to 14th). Lackluster performances to that point. Gibson came in and they had finishes of 8th, 22nd, 12th, 5th, 13th, and 4th. The next 3 with Eury Jr on the box......36th, 19th, 34th.

Yes Kyle, it never is Junior.

So the crew chief is the reason the idiot driver keeps missing his pit box?
 
Yeah, there are many people that love to kick a person when they are down. It doesn't surprise me a bit about Kyle. like his big brother says....don't you know who I am.
 
Unfortunately, I know all too well who he is. Wonder how Kyle is feeling after his runs today? I bet it's everyone elses fault, too? Oh yeah, it was just the tires or it was Joey's fault that he started the field slow so no one would lay back on him since he complains about THAT all the time.

Oh btw - It's NEVER Kyle's FAULT. Just ask him! ;) :D
 
Even with the terrible year that jr is having, he still has a better career average finish than ole Bush league. Don't even think about comparing Bush league to Jeff Gordon. hell, even if he was the only driver on the track Bush league wouldn't be able to catch Gordon's career average finish. :)
 
Wouldn't it be funny if Busch's remarks were what it took to light a spark under Jr? :D

It's the crew chief's fault when he doesn't count the stalls down like 42 other crew chiefs out there. That has been documented by even Toyota Waltrip.
 
I did have a wet dream about Kyle last night. I dreamt he drove off a cliff and I pissed myself laughing so hard.:beerbang:
 
I think the whole thing is funny. I mean, guess who everyone's talkign about: Kyle Busch. Dale Jr has been an also-ran at best all year long, but apparently he's out of bounds for anyone (especially KB?) to talk badly about.

Kyle's winning races, Dale's running in the back week in and week out. He needs to get his head out of the clouds and get racing again.

Jr is average at best anyway. I have never in my life seen such an average sports figure have so many fans. And what do they do when their driver doesn't finish worth a damn? They throw beer cans at the winner. Typical rednecks.

Put you boy Kyle in an IRL car and see if he does any better, they run far more road courses and street races than NASCAR, see how well he'd do turning the steering wheel other than left all the time. btw I like Kyle I don't see what all the fuss is about him he's just like JR's dad was back in the 80s, he didn't get the nic name intimidator for nothin'.
 
Hey guys, I am new around here, so I thought this was a good a thread as any to start in.

I have enjoyed reading what everyone has to say about what Kyle said, but guys lets face it, they asked him what he thought and he told it. To be quite honest he flat out told the truth! No matter how poorly Junior does he will NOT be blamed for it. It will ALWAYS be something else. Junior fans have told me everything from: "It is Tony Eury" "Henrick probably doesn't give him good equipment" to my personal favorite "racing is like wrestling, it is fixed so they won't let junior win". Yes I have heard it all and to all of it I say WHATEVER! Looke, I realize Junior has got some big shoes to fill in Dale Sr., and to be honest there is no sense in comparing the two. But man, why Junior has so many fans is simply mind blowing. And the worst part is, they can't just say "I like Junior" they have to say "Junior is the best driver out there by far" to which I call some serious crap!

So I know the cool thing to do these days is hate kyle bush, i am not a fan of his by any means, HOWEVER lets face it, the guy has got a point!
 
G Fan, you might want to watch what you say around here...oh wait, that was years ago and it was 180 degrees the other way. Welcome to the board and give us more of your opinions.
