AJ is a pretty good road racer. He has won the 24 Hours of Daytona and that is some serious road racing.

So has Casey Mears, Kyle Larson, and Jamie Mac. I agree he's pretty good. Just not great

Ambrose and Robby each have one more road course win than does AJ and neither is still driving a Cup car.
I think AJ is a very good road course driver.

And what is even more impressive is that he won it with Justin Wilson and a couple of Am drivers, rather than winning as part of an all-Pro lineup as CGR does.

Gordon was the last owner/driver and he couldn't afford to keep going. Stewart and Waltrip are technically owner/drivers but I don't really count them (they are part of something bigger).
