College Football 2025

This Ohio State team is really great at controlling the game and playing in a way that just sucks the life out of the opposition.

Its amazing. They've done it all year. Very few times all year have they chosen to really open up their offense to full potential. I heard a stat that OSUs defense, by snap count has played roughly 1 full game less compared to B1G teams.

Auburn tree killer on why he poisoned the Toomer's Corner oak trees: “I wanted Auburn people to hate me as much as I hate them."

Fifeteen years ago but I guess the hate still remains. Somebody could right a good country and western song about the enduring hate.

I would love to see Ole Miss make it to the SE title game for all of the faithful ( which probably would exclude Lane Kiffin)

The whole Kiffin Ole Miss/LSU saga is an embarrassment for the sport. It’s properly nuts we could have an 11–1 SEC team without a coaching staff for the CFP.

I’ve refreshed Twitter probably a couple thousand times over the last couple days. The whole thing is like a bad car wreck you can’t help but stare at.
Seems all but certain he’s headed to Red Stick.

Golding (current DC) promoted to permanent head coach, pretty happy with that. The team is at least acting like they’re still focused. Still not clear how many of the other assistants jumped with Lane.

Pathetic from Kiffin.

He knew damn well he wanted to leave to LSU weeks ago. That’s fine, no issues with that. But dragging it on and on and on like he did was pathetic. Then to issue that sorry ass statement and try to gaslight people into feeling bad for him and pretending he was done wrong by not being allowed to coach in the playoffs. Ole Miss looked bad for the past couple weeks but they at least (kinda) saved face by telling him to get lost.

Both these statements are true….the system and schedule is an issue. Lane handled it about as poorly as possible

Side note. I’m bummed the regular season is over. I can’t believe how much more interested I am in CFB than I am in the NFL. As little as 4 years ago I didn’t care about CFB at all, now I’m all in.

It’s really remarkable how badly he managed to burn every bridge in Oxford after the success they’ve had together over the past six years, after Ole Miss gave him his big chance to coach a power program again after the Tennessee and USC debacles many years back. I’m very glad he’s found sobriety, but this charade has shown he still lacks emotional maturity and adult decision making skills. It’s bad, and I hate that many in the industry have tried to frame this as something that happened to Lane, like he’s had no agency in choosing to go to a conference rival.

It sounds like only a limited number of staff accompanied him on the flight to Baton Rouge. At least initially it seems like Ole Miss is relatively unscathed, and will up their assistant pool significantly since Golding will be coaching at a discount relative to what Kiffin would be making.

In other coaching news, Arkansas AD gets ratioed for settling for a guy who couldn’t win the American once in six years at Memphis, and Florida fans throw a fit over hiring another coach of a Louisiana G6 program (I think that is rather lazy analysis, but I get why they’re frustrated).
