College Football 2025

What is Penn State’s plan now? Hartline seemed like the most logical choice if they went the coordinator route, and they whiffed on every sitting HC - Sitake, Chesney, and so on. How did they get a head start on everybody and come up empty-handed? It’s NSD and they have exactly 1 kid signed with 1 more committed, who may or may not sign. 2 whole recruits! 150th-ranked class in the country!
They got slapped in the face with a dose of reality and now know they aren't the top tier program they think they are. JK Penn State fans are delusional. The arrogance they showed by thinking they would get Cignetti, DeBoer or Elko and even had the gall to mention the possibilities of Saban, Meyer and Lanning.

The first thing Penn State needs to do is fire the AD. He completely shot himself in the foot. Firing Franklin mid-season after making the national semi-finals the season before is beyond absurd. What coach wants to walk into that?

Matt Campbell is probably the best Penn State could’ve gotten at this point. Iowa State is a terribly difficult place to win at and he put up some historic seasons in Ames. I think he’ll be good, not great, but they salvaged this search. Pat Kraft should probably still be fired though.

Matt Campbell is a good coach. A decent amount of Michigan fans were interested in him when Harbaugh left. I just don't get firing Franklin to hire a guy who's ceiling is probably Franklin.

Texas Tech will win their first outright conference championship since the 1955 Border Conference. That defense is nasty and will be a tough out for anyone in the CFP.

Perfect storm of circumstances with that West Texas oil money flowing into the program when Oklahoma and Texas leaving opened up a power vacuum in the Big XII.

I know a lot of people don't like today's version of college football, but today we got to see Texas Tech win their first Big 12 conference title and first conference title in 70 years. Later tonight we have a chance to see Indiana when their first outright conference title in like 80 years. Good stuff.

“Texas Tech can you please do our heavy lifting and beat a team for the second time that’s better than any win we have on our entire schedule.” - Notre Dame

And sadly it probably gets them in.

I was positive Miami was going to drop a third game down the stretch but they didn’t. Notre Dame and Miami are likely going to be back-to-back in the rankings now and I’m not sure how you don’t use H2H at that point.

I think Notre Dame has all the tools to make a deep run like last year but their body of work isn’t quite good enough.

Totally agree with everything your said.

ND might be a top 5 team…but they simply down have the body of work to make the tournament.

Go Dawgs
Really happy to get the early lead. My biggest concern was the possibility of Alabama getting an early 2 plus TD lead..

If think Georgia goes all the way when they play a complete game

College football, basketball, etc….. As long as there are rankings and there are playoff brackets, it’s always going to be subjective. With their formats there’s never going to be a clear answer.

With that being said….. Go Irish! ;)

Why this isn't even a conversation makes no sense to me. Why is Bama immune from being left out? They got whooped by a bad FSU team.
A lot of people seem to operate under the assumption that making a CCG means you don’t get dropped in favor of idle teams. The only reason SMU didn’t fall out entirely in favor of Bama last year is they lost to Clemson on a walk off FG. Bama got handled today and have by far the worst loss of any contender. They should be out at this point.

Last outright conference title

Texas Tech - 1955
Duke - 1962
Indiana - 1945

First-time FBS conference titles for Kennesaw State (CUSA) and James Madison (SBC) as well. What a season.

It’s the best coaching job anywhere ever, imo. I don’t think that’s an exaggeration.
We sometimes overuse calling things the best ever, but I agree. Indiana has always been a laughingstock and basically considered an automatic win for their opponents. Now, they are legitimately the #1 team in the country. And he did it almost immediately.
