Congrats Trevor Bayne

Since Daytona USA museum is closed....Trevors Car will be the first not to placed there for viewing?

It's going to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

I don't see the HOF surviving very long... from what I've heard, they're not doing well at all. I might go there next time I go to The Rock!

While it's great that he won and everything, I think folks are being a little premature when it comes to how good this kid is. I mean, it's the Daytona 500. It doesn't require a lot of skill to win (compared to other NASCAR drivers). I'm not saying that anyone can win the 500, but it's certainly not a measure of Driver Skill.

While some of the praise may be a bit overdone, it's also not like Bayne ran in the back all day and made a flukey run near the end.

In fact, he was at or near the front all day and ran a smarter race than anyone else I seen out there.

People have known for a while that Bayne can drive a car and I suppose the 500 win was kind of unexpected so maybe we're getting a little overexcited

They still keep the winning Daytona 500 car in Daytona @ their facility, not the HoF. It will stay there until next February. Daytona Speedway offers some kind of tour of the track and the final exhibit is the winning Daytona 500 car.

I agree.
Trevor being a hometown guy.. I was very excited. I feel like he earned the 500, nothing was handed to him. He was in a good position most of the day. Didn't make rookie mistakes like some others did when they started, no names. (Jimmie Johnson) :D

x2

I just rewatched the finish, I didnt notice the first time that Bayne cut off Edwards as Edwards was trying to pass and used the 99 as a draft partner. That was pretty savvy.

Funny but I just watched the VL interview againand he was thanking those that pushed him and he thanked Carl for pushing him over the line....Lol  after Trevor moved low to block...which was a great move

Congrats to Trevor!

We were all rooting for him there at the end- youngest driver in the oldest car.

A stat that was missed earlier-

all last year, the #21 team brought home 1.3M

In one day, Trevor brought home 1.4M.

Did you know Trevor Bayne only used 10 tires for the entire Daytona500? That's insane! That kid knows how to save money on the tire bill too. :growl:

I believe because the Goodyear tire was so good, plus the track being re-paved, most teams averaged about the same tire usage.

So..... Your telling me he isn't the second coming? I thought Trevor Bayne was the savior of NASCAR. Now you've gone and spoiled that for me.

Don't get me wrong I like the kid, but until he is a regular on the Cup circuit, wins 5 races or more in a season, and wins a few Championships, then maybe we can hail him as the second coming of JJ.:D

Agreed..... Just joking. I was just making fun of the medias obsession with him. It's great and all that he won the Daytona 500 but let's not get to excited here. I'd like to see him do well as most probably do. He seems like a likable guy and will garner many fans. He seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and will work on his development before moving on. I'd hate to see him be yet another example of someone that moved up too soon. It would have to be a tough decision to not step up to Cup when he's probably worked his whole, what, 20 year life to get there. After his high this week, I'd hate to see him have a huge reality check come this Sunday afternoon. Good luck to him. :beerbang:

Spencer had "Justin Beiber Wins Daytona!" written on his chalkboard. :D

Glad to see a new face in victory lane, realy glad to see the no.21 Woods Racing there. Glen Wood was the 1st driver I was a fan of since I saw him running at Bowman Grey Stadium many years ago.
Best thing about Daytona is that there are really no top 3 or 4 drivers that have the best chance to win, they all do.

Trevor's unsponsored Nationwide car sitting in Phoenix. How does that happen after winning the D500?

Congratulations to Trevor Bayne...as I believe that's what this thread was supposed to be about.
