Congratulations to Regan Smith

Not debatable. Kahne is one of the most talented drivers in the sport, and has won 16 races (only 4 less then jr.) in petty, evernham, and red bull equipment (4 different manufacturers. He's also been in the sport 4 less years then jr., and has won more races with Hendrick then he has. Jr., Gordon, and Johnson, are all getting up in age, and when they all retire Kahne will be the senior driver for Chase Elliott and maybe Larson. Jr. Is a good driver and gets way too much flack, but he's not better then Kahne. Let's see who does better by the end of the year
Six of those sixteen wins were in one season back in 2006. Other than that, he's never won more than two races in a single season.

Like I said, Kahne's contract runs through 2015 and the other three, most likely, are going to compete through at least 2016 (when Gordon's Axalta sponsorship is up). Chase Elliott will likely be ready to move up after 2015.

You're making this about who the better driver is when the main point was who would get the boot first. Answer remains the same.

Do you honestly think Rick would toss Dale Jr. over Kahne?

LOL no. You're talking to a guy who decided to let one of the best drivers walk so he can make room for a more profitable driver.

Mayfield also made the Chase with Evernham before the Petty merger. Allmendinger nearly made the Chase in 2011 with RPM too.

He won two races and made the chase when rpm was garbage. And I didn't realize almost making it count for anything. I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon retires this year or next year. He's still pretty good, but he doesn't have anywhere near the fire he used to. And I'm a big chase elliott supporter, but let's see how he does in nationwide first

I don't think Kahne gets the credit he deserves. As long as he continues to win a couple races every year and make the Chase, I doubt Hendrick gives him the boot. I think the more likely scenario would be Elliott replacing Gordon once he retires, or Elliott "graduating" to the Cup series in a glorified 5th Hendrick car (under the JR Motorsports name of course). Whichever comes first. It all depends on how long Jeff sticks around and when they decide Chase is ready.

He still got beat out by Mayfield in both of the two full seasons they ran together at Evernham. I'm just sayin'.

I disagree about Gordon's fire...last year's Chase showed he still has plenty left in the tank. Championship contender up until the tire problem at Texas. Even the battle to get into the Chase the last two summers showed he still has it. I'm guessing he and Axalta decided last year to extend through 2016 for a reason, too.
