Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

I get that, but not everyone has NBCSN. They had enough time to at least interview 3-4 drivers on the main broadcast. Instead they spent the whole time talking waiting for Brad to get out of the car.
I get that too, but it was two minutes from the time they came back from commercial till the time Brad K got out of car.

That's one thing I do kinda like about Joey now that he's more of a veteran driver. He doesnt care who does and doesn't like him. Same with Brad. Probably my favorite thing about both of em.
I am sure you can understand right now I cant say I like that about him (Joey)

According to Racing Reference, his average finish here in the last 7 races is 19th. Mears (16th) and Biffle (17th) average better than that.
Brad's been racing full-time for a shorter period of time than most of these guys yet only Jr. has more plate wins and only Stewart and Johnson have as many.

Not sure if others on the west coast experienced this, but they never showed any part of Kurt Busch's interview on my broadcast. I kept waiting to see and hear what happened. They didn't even talk about it during the race. He was just ignored. There goes a car through the infield, let's not show a replay or interview anyone. We need another commercial.

Just want you to know I see all your tweets about the commercials. That sucks, I feel for ya. Must be bad, getting so many tweets about it.

Not sure what else to say about the ads. Should be interesting to see http://www.cawsnjaws.com this week (has breakdown of how many ads).
Total minutes of complete race broadcast: 190
Minutes of race broadcast: 143
Minutes of traditional commercials (not split-screen): 47
Minutes of 'Side-by-Side' commercials (split-screen): 10

The above data does not include the post race coverage, which I thought was excellent. BTW, 143/190=75.3%. I wonder what Fox's % was?

Some high quality can't-pass-the-leader stuff right there.

Worst plate race in a while - and that's saying a lot.
"Can't-pass-the-leader" is unfair IMO. That implies there is some inherent advantage to the lead car that makes trailing cars unable to compete, like aero push or something of that nature. In fact, there was ample ability to pass the leader except when the 2 was the leader. Kez had good speed and drove a perfect tactical race. He had no trouble passing the leader. And when Kez was not leading, other cars could pass the leader too.

My take: Best plate race in a while - but that's not saying a lot. ;)
