Cup RACE thread ---- Gateway 2023

(Inner thoughts) I’m bored. It’s Sunday. Race is at a crap track for this car and my guy is in time out for being an a$$. How could it be any worse? Larson or Byron winning? LaJoie running great in the 9?
-“and now on Fox, we have Kenny Wallace and Michael Waltrip in the booth!!!”
* Oh F me!
And Clint trying to sell us the racing would be different if the race had started on time.

The track is fine. It’s the car that sucks.

Say what you will about Rick Allen but at least NBC treats NASCAR with respect. FOX treats NASCAR as a hokey sideshow. It might as well be "Yee-Haw with Stock Cars." Guys like Wallace and Waltrip contribute to that.

Great post would be cool to read while the theme song from Jaws is playing in the background

I don’t love ANY HMS livery. Boring and childish af all of them
I do like that Axalta scheme, Larson’s is okay and I really liked that throwback Hendrick Cars scheme this year on the 5, that should be the full time one…looked bad fast on this car.

Yes. I do. Hence the marshmallow comment. It’s dumb as heck.

Events like this need to succeed if NASCAR is going to have any kind of long term future. These are the kinds of events that get younger people interested. Look at how F1 has leveraged having "events" into popularity in spite of objectively bad racing. NASCAR has some of the best racing in the world but our youth numbers aren't looking good.

I prefer Sound of Silence for mood, but yeah. I’m switching to NBA finals. That’s how few Fs I have left to give. (Frankly I’d be there still if Chase didn’t go full r*****d because he’d be running 12th-20th anyway)

If we had coverage ANYWHERE near as respectful and professional as F1 I’d agree. But like was just said, all we get is “NASCAR yeeeeee haw wooooooo boy boot legged whisky!!!!!!! WOOOOO”

NASCAR needs to leave FOX behind. At this point their coverage is a hindrance to the sport's growth. Give it back to ESPN or see if CBS wants to jump back in.

They DESPERATELY need a legitimate “Drive to Survive” series on a service like Netflix that shows everything behind the scenes. Can you imagine episodes where say Penske execs are bitching about HMS prima donnas like the Red Bull v Mercedes episodes of DTS? With episodes featuring say LaJoie or other fan favs as lovable losers like McClaren? Amazing

NASCAR did a reality show on USA Network (that was also on Peacock), it just didn't take off because it wasn't done as well as DTS.

CBS doesn’t.

Fox is a problem but NASCAR values that relationship way too much.

NBC and ESPN would be the best option.

That nascar commercial with the cars from different eras racing each other is so damn cool

Exactly. Was on USA. *slow clap* featured episodes where Austin Dillon and a crew guys double dated and had terrible scripted segments. No. No. F1 DTS is the template. FOLLOW IT
