Cup RACE thread --- Las Vegas

He was not 7-time yet.

The upcoming contest will seed the top 64 drivers by their stats and then put them into head to head polls until an "RF GOAT" is identified.

I'm surprised people had him top 4 back then

Don't see a whole lot here on track, but saw this brewing in the last few races, both of them are on the aggressive driver side and mid-packing. It does seem that Amigo is racing with a chip on his shoulder, don't see anything wrong with that, he's out to show Trackhouse wrong for parting ways, Motivation. And right now he's outrunning them in the points. Ross needs to worry about finding speed on the ovals, not doorslamming on cooldown laps. There's not a whole lot here.

What Denny is doing at age 45 is incredible. And he has experience in this points format. It’d be neat if he won a championship in the current format, he had a few close calls in it in the late 2000’s early 10’s.

I can't think of a more perfect ending. and sail off into the sunset.

Ya know there was a time when Denny's racing career really went into a slump in certain years between 2011-2018', there were seasons with 0 wins there were seasons with as little as 4 top5's for the entire year, it really was not looking too hot for a while, probably a fringe hof driver maybe, if you told me he'd reignite and be having some of his most dominant and best season's post 2019 it would have been fantasy talk and I simply wouldn't have believed it.

So it's all just incredible what it's turned into, a slam dunk first ballot hof driver car owner spokesman for the sport, truly amazing. More importantly it just looks like he's a great dad and a genuine good guy. One of the better progressions in sports.

Denny always worked hard, and I think he was slightly limited by some of the older cars that just seemed tougher to drive.

With the rules package change at the end of Gen 6, and then the emergence of the gen 7, I think these cars better lent themselves to Denny's talents, and his work ethic, racecraft and desire to get better ultimately made him a much better racecar driver because of it, and now, relative to the field, he's the best he's ever been and seems to be in the middle of his peak.

No one had Denny Hamlin winning more cup races than Kyle Busch on their bingo card. Now, its basically a forgone conclusion.

Given his age, this may be the best run of longevity we have ever seen in the cup series. This is his 21st season in cup.

I know that I didn't, that's for sure.

Harvick's was super strong to finish out, but yeah I think that it is and he'll probably keep it going for a few more years who knows.

I still can't believe Jack let Matt AND Carl get away
Matt got what looked like a better offer from JGR. There was nothing Jack or anyone else could offer Carl. Honestly, I kept expecting Biff to jump ship.

But of the drivers that left Roush, Mark Martin was the one that truly shocked me.
